Aviator Tavern — Restaurant in Kitty Hawk

So this place is in a large hotel in Kitty Hawk, but we were looking for some salads, and found their menu online, and we gave them a try. Glad we did. We each ordered a salad (house salad with grilled chicken as well as their cobb salad), and both were very good. Nice mixed greens, good grilled chicken, fresh toppings, and an enjoyable place to have them. Service was very good - Dee did a great job with us, bringing out a pitcher of water for us, and making sure we were well taken care of. We checked in today and didn’t feel like going out and fighting the crowds. So we have it a shot.

The staff was excellent! Very friendly and attentive. Started off with the soup of the day, seafood chowder, and it did not disappoint! It was delicious!

The food was very flavorful and spot on. Chicken dish was good and had a comforting flavor. Shrimp and grits had a great flavor combination and was really good.

Only thing I would change is the amount of sauce on the shrimp and grits. It was abundant and I lost the grits in it.

Just finished a four night stay at the Hilton and had breakfast every morning at the Aviator Tavern. Traveling with a dog can be a challenge, but fortunately the Hilton in Kitty Hawk is pet friendly. Understandably, pets aren’t allowed in the restaurant, but we met Rachel who is a server.
