Duck Donuts — Restaurant in Kitty Hawk

Holy cow those bacon maple donuts are amazing!!! The donuts are really delicious! They truly are great donuts! The coffee is tasty too!

Came here with the family when we were walking by one morning. There was a line to get in outside. Due to Covid only 10 people were allowed in at a time. The line to get in; was stretched outside. We were waiting to get in and some lady just drives up in her car and walks right in and cuts the whole line. I called the lady out and she just brushed me off saying well I wasn’t inside. I asked if she had a mobile pick up order. She said no. I let her know that she cut the whole line but she didn’t care. No one said anything else to her. Everyone could hear me call her out inside because only 10 people were allowed in at a time anyway!

The story does end well though!! When I was leaving a worker at Duck donuts asked if I wanted 12 donuts for free because someone never came to pick them up. I wonder if it’s because they heard the line cutting altercation I had with the Karen! Kudos to duck donuts for making it right by comping the free 12 donuts!! The donuts might have been delicious. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to find out.

I rented a VRBO a couple of blocks away, excited to be able to walk over for breakfast. I checked the menu in advance and confirmed they sold breakfast sandwiches so I'd be able to get my kids a "real" breakfast before ending with donuts.

I showed up with my family one quiet Friday morning and ordered six breakfast sandwiches. We were told they "couldn't" make breakfast sandwiches because there were "only" two of them there and two customers had walked in AFTER us wanting donuts.

I still don't understand the logic.

They said they'd be willing to make our sandwiches after serving the other customers (remember, we were there first) but couldn't offer a time on when that might be. After I pressed them "are we talking 5 minutes? 15? an hour?" they said "it won't be an hour".

We considered that unreasonable and left, instead having a delicious breakfast at Art's Place...

Not like I remembered (as far as the service). Back at the OBX after 15 years and had to get a Duck Donut! Was moderately busy but I was determined to check out a donut. Couple in front of me ordered Lattes, no donuts. So, the Lady taking the orders stopped taking orders and made the Lattes (while the two ladies making the donut orders waited for the next order). Two employees in the back room milled about doings what they do. Apparently no body else was authorized to take orders. After about 5 minutes, I got my donuts and left.

Today I went back for another donut fix. This time, one other customer in the shop, an older gentleman running the donut fryer, and the same two ladies making the donut orders. Nobody at the register taking orders, and now three people milling around in the back, (two of which made eye contact with me). After about 3 or four minutes of not even being acknowledged, I left.

Duck Donuts are good, but I don't need...
