I have loved Mountain Mike's food for decades. I worked for Mountain Mike's in Yuba City, CA about 30 years ago.
The cheesy garlic bread sticks are still incredible. I took a stroll down memory lane to where I was a college student and used to buy pizza and bread sticks with my employee discount so my roommates and I could eat on the cheap. I introduced my mom to the bread sticks and now she's hooked. She takes her friends to Mountain Mike's now and raves about the bread sticks.
My one complaint about the bread sticks is that with their oven timing, it often overcooks them. Mom and I always request for them to be pulled out a little sooner so the bread is cooked, but the cheese is still gooey, not too browned. It's funny. I remember one customer who frequented the Mountain Mike's I worked at who liked his bread sticks burnt. He'd tell me "Burn it. Cremate it. Spread the ashes on the pan, then serve it to me." I can't imagine that would be tasty, but if he wanted to eat them that way, so be it.
Mom and I go for the lunch buffet quite often. I'm a vegetarian so it's refreshing that they bring out vegetarian or plain cheese pizzas quite often. Yes, the buffet includes a salad bar, but who goes to a pizza restaurant to get just salad? A note of caution. During the busy lunch buffet period, the salad bar restock can be slower. I don't know if they were understaffed the last time Mom and I went, three days ago, but there was one woman who had to take care of the register and keep up with stocking the salad bar. She was hustling. I don't put the blame on her at all. She needed help, though. There should have been another person working on keeping the salad bar stocked.
I will update this review with photos the next...
Read moreI have been putting off this review as I filed a corporate complaint about my issue. I received an email from the owner of our mountain mikes pizza and scheduled an appointment for a phone call to discuss my experience (which was appreciated) no phone call received, so I had to reach out about this missed phone call and gave him my days off and made myself available all day for both days, and did not get a phone call. I ordered pizza for contactless delivery. I did not receive the pizza or salad at all and when I called they were closed and told me the pizza was delivered. I was then asked if I heard the 'commotion' outside involving neighbors. apparently instead of me getting a phone call, a neighbor was asked where I lived and they dropped the pizza off there.. I walked up and down to street to see if my pizza was on a neighbors porch. it was not, so we did not eat pizza that night. I called the next day because we left at 930 am and got home at 3 and there was an order on my porch filled with ants and soaking wet as a storm came through. when I called to speak to a manager, I was told by the lady on the phone she was the manager and the best they can do for me was give me store credit for the pizza which I was willing to accept, until I was told I wasn't going to be given the delivery fee back as the pizza was "delivered somewhere" and the pizza on my porch must have been there all night and I over looked it! very disappointed I the overall experience and attitude!! I still look forward to the call Mr....
Read moreThis place is phenomenally bad, I'm amazed that they managed to get every single thing wrong. We ordered ahead b/c we're travelling through and wanted to be somewhat quick. We got there, paid at the counter and sat to wait for our food, some time later my husband went to play pinball, then returned quickly when he saw it was a dollar a game. He checked on our food, and was told that it had been in their warmer waiting since before we showed up. My bbq chicken luau pizza was a greasy, gelatinous mess of undercooked bacon and over sweet sauce, my son's lettuce on his taco pizza was hot, brown, old and wet, my husband's double pepperoni had to be sent back because they did half pepperoni instead, and the garlic knots were somehow burned on the outside and still raw on the inside. Every member of the staff looked like they truly hate their jobs and it showed in the horrid salad bar and filthy restaurant. Being charged $80 for this perfect storm of phenomenally bad, well, everything, had me depart the restaurant without tipping, something I truly never do. I truly hope they can address the serious lack going on here, but I can say, we won't ever be...
