I doordashed my order just now, and I had to put it down an leave a review immediately after my first bite. It is not often that you eat somewhere and can taste the love put into it, or that someone enjoys making their food for others. But that is exactly what you'll experience from Yassin's. I ordered the shawarma gyro sandwich, falafel, hummus, and fries for my kid. Let me tell you, I don't know what it is but my kid is going crazy for the fries. I tried them and they just hit different. They just do. I don't know. 😂 They're just regular fries but they're SO GOOD. I started with my hummus, and POW!, full of flavor. You can tell it's house made, super smooth and buttery, tart but not overwhelming. I immediately texted my husband to let him know I found real Arab food because we're new here, and haven't had much luck. It's either frozen, bland, or Cava. And then I tried my falafel and those spices are so mild but very powerful at the same time. I ate them so quickly, I honestly could not get enough. So crunchy, and they're HUGE. Like 2 or 3 bites in each. And then I got to my gyro. It was very clean, earthy, hearty, tart, juicy, and wholesome. It took my mouth straight to a vacation in Byblos, as this type of food always should. I am honestly stuffed and I still wish I had more to snack on. They forgot my straw, but that's okay! 😂 I'll let it slide, and I'll definitely be back regularly. Actually! I'm taking my husband to try it for himself tomorrow!

Thank yall so much for the treat. It really is special food. It might be the best falafel in the country, this place is truly...

I'm obsessed with falafel. I would eat it every day if I could! So, whenever I move or visit a new area, it's one of the first things I seek out. During a recent trip to ABQ I thought I found the best falafel of my life. Nope, Yassin's has now taken that crown. Omg it's good! I've tried both the spicy falafel sandwich and the spicy falafel platter. Both amazing! The sandwich is pure perfection with the right amount of toppings and sauce. The seasoned fries were delicious too! But the platter is my absolute favorite. They have some of the best dips I've ever had! The hummus is authentic and creamy with paprika and fresh olive oil. My husband hates baba ganoush and he really enjoyed Yassin's! I loved it too! The falafel was served on top of a delicious salad with the most amazing dressing. If I could make one improvement I would say the pita served with the platter could be heated so that it isn't as chewy/tough. It's the same bread used with the sandwiches but it's less tough because it's warm.

In addition to the food, I really like the vibe in the restaurant. The staff are very friendly and the music is AMAZING! During my dinner I got to hear The Cure, Radiohead, New Order, Depeche Mode, A-HA, Tears...

It’s not an exaggeration to say that Yassin’s Falafel House is a Knoxville legend—and a national one, too, after being named “Nicest Place in America” by Reader’s Digest. But beyond the heartwarming backstory and inclusive mission, the food itself is absolutely fantastic.

Located downtown and also on Kingston Pike, the restaurant offers fast-casual Middle Eastern fare—shawarma wraps, hummus bowls, tabbouleh, lentil soup, and of course, their namesake falafel. The falafel is golden and crisp on the outside, soft and herby inside—delicious on its own or wrapped with fresh veggies and tahini sauce.

Everything tastes fresh, and portions are generous for the price. I especially recommend the hummus bowl with chicken shawarma—savory, satisfying, and beautifully plated. The lentil soup is hearty and soothing, perfect for chilly days.

What really elevates the experience is the warmth of the people. Yassin and his team greet everyone like family, and the energy is always welcoming, positive, and genuine. You leave not only full but smiling.

If you’re looking for a feel-good spot with consistently amazing food and the kindest atmosphere in Knoxville, this is the place. A must-visit for locals and...

This review is based solely on my experience of ordering from this place via GrubHub. I wouldn't even give one star to this place if Google would allow me to rate zero stars. The food at this restaurant might be great, sure, but they can't pack for s*it. I ordered hummus and pita, and for one thing, it was oily AF - so much so that the oil spilled into the entire bag and drenched all the other items in oil. See the attached picture - that's how much oil was outside the container of hummus, despite about 4 times that amount having spilled outside the container and all over the bag. This restaurant packs their pita sandwiches in paper, as well as their falafel side item (all 4 falafel balls packed side to side in a roll of paper). That cheapness on their part, instead of using decent packaging material and non-porous wrapping material made these items so soggy, that we couldn't eat them at all. To GrubHub's credit, they refunded me the entire amount when I complained about this, so no issues with that. But given this experience, and the fact that I don't want to ever risk this oil nightmare, I'll never be ordering delivery from Yassin's ever again.

I've wanted to eat at this restaurant for some time and finally made it there. Coming from Chicago I really miss ethnic food and Yassin's didn't disappoint. I got a gyros that brought me back to going to Greek town in Chicago. The pita was very good. The gyro meat was exceptional and full of flavor. The tiziki sauce was a little more powerful than I'm used to but wasn't a deal breaker. It's location in downtown Knoxville is a little challenging. We could only buy a half hour on the meter and had to feed it twice to eat. There is a pay lot across the street as well. The staff was nice and service was good. It's an eccentric little spot that lifted my spirit and desire for city life. I'll be going back for falafel and chicken shawarma. I reccomend this place. Everyone should step outside the box and experience another culture in some little way like food.

Ok, I’m into Middle Eastern and Mediterranean food. My usually rank is Turkish Doner, Greek Gyro, and Middle Eastern shawarma. There are usually shades of spice differences between the three. You get the option here of having your meat spicy which I love. I think it is a sprinkle of chili powder or paprika. Anyhow the food comes out which is thinly cut small layer of meat on top of yellow rice, some sliced onions, tomatoes, tzatziki sauce, and what I believe is bagged grocery stored bought pita bread that’s not even warmed. The service is at a counter, and restaurant interior is a bit of a dump. I’m not familiar with the parking areas in downtown Knoxville, so I choose the QR phone pay lot across from the restaurant. Get your speed eats on, because 30 minutes parking will cost you $5.50. I wouldn’t go back again, but I rate it as a barely ok.
