The Irish in me is crying... This was my first trip here and I'm confident it'll more than likely be my last. For my drink I ordered 'The Dude', just Vodka and Bailey's. It wasn't too shabby, so I had high hopes. We ordered 'Scotch Egg Rolls' and 'Bleu Balls' for our appetizers. The egg rolls were super unique and delicious, the cheese sauce made it! The Bleu Balls we're incredibly SPIIIIIICY, so be warned. I ordered the full $14 'Corned Beef and Cabbage' plate for my main course. It took about 25 minutes for our food to come out, and the restaurant was not busy at the time. When my plate hit the table, my jaw hit the floor. Before even attempting to eat this I had to snap a photo (pictured). THIS was the "full" plate. First red flag. Next immediate red flag was the abundance of visibly inedible pieces of charred corned beef. Keep in mind, this is shaved cooked corned beef, like for a Reuben sandwich, RECOOKED on a grill then just slapped on a plate without any care. I was able to eat maybe 35% of the meat on my plate. The cabbage. The poor cabbage... I get what they were trying to do here. But alas, a major fail. The cabbage tasted like it went bad in the fridge. The brine was a putrid sour mixed with overly sweet and the consistency of the cabbage was mushy. This whole plate was not what I was expecting AT ALL. I was blown away that it was delivered to my table looking the way it did, so I asked my waitress if they always looked like that. She responded with yes. Yikes!! I asked her to charge me for a half plate, instead of a full because more than half was inedible, which she kindly did. Our waitress was very polite and friendly, but was hard to find when we were ready to order, ready for the check and when we had our payment ready. I hate writing these kinds of reviews... But this is for anyone who thinks they're going to eat a FULL hearty traditional corned beef and cabbage meal. Someone tell Cook McDoogal to throw a couple carrots and potatoes...
Read moreMy husband and I traveled to Kokomo with our 5 year old son on Monday, May 14th. I read some pretty good reviews on Cook McDoogals's and since there are no Irish restaurants where we live we were excited to give this place a try! After driving 8 hours we checked into our accommodations and went to eat. Upon entering there was a sign posted that stated you must be 21 to enter. We live in another state and you are allowed to dine at establishments that have bars and serve alcohol as long as you don't try and sit at the bar. We thought perhaps the sign was pertaining to guest who want to sit at the bar. We went inside and waited in the waiting area. A young girl about 27 with brown hair emerged from the back of the pub and walked very rapidly towards us! My husband began to ask her if it was ok for us to eat at their pub and before he could finish his sentence she pointed her finger at our 5 year old and hatefully snapped AH YEAH HE's GOT TO GO!!! She never thanked us for stopping by nor did she offer us any explanation or state any policy that they have. We were simply thrown out like we were bad patrons who were causing a disruption. When we got out to the sidewalk my little boy looked up at me and asked if HE had done something wrong!! It's unfortunate this establishment has someone so rude and unprofessional representing them at their door! We visit Kokomo often and if we had been treated with one ounce of respect and had been given a kind explanation we would have returned on another visit when we didn't have our...
Read moreI got seated with my mom and my 3 Irish aunts and heard this place was good. We waited 30 minutes for someone to take our order and nobody showed up. It wasn't that busy. The bartenders sat there a few times just doing nothing looking at us. We got up and asked a random waitress and she said the bartender was supposed to take our order. 10 minutes later we ask the heavyset long haired grumpy looking bartender and he asked us how long we were there we said over a half hour. He said he was too busy and he'd get someone else in a rude way. After about 10 minutes of watching him we all got up and went to leave. The lady working the hostess section said that it was a known problem that he wasn't a good employee and they lost their good bartender. She offered no help to our issue. we got a card to talk to the manager. We called it a few times and got busy signals for Sean. Then got a ring but no answer. Later Sean called back and ended up being the grumpy bartender. He lied and said he went to the back to get someone. We all literally sat there and seen him barely working and not direct anyone to us but we didn't argue about him lying. Before getting off the phone he told my aunt he is only human. We were excited to go and were planning on spending a lot. They clearly didn't want us there and didn't want to work. we went to another place. We are never going...
