I’ve been wanting to check out Louie’s Coney Island for a long time. How me and this restaurant could be in the same town for so many years and never cross paths until today is beyond me. Anyway, I stopped in for lunch with a friend who had also never been there. The restaurant was very busy and it took several minutes before anyone took our order, but once our order was placed the food came out surprisingly quickly. We both got a Baked Hamburger and a Coney Island hotdog. My friend is perhaps a little pickier than me. He said he thought everything was so-so, and that he was glad he checked it out but would probably not eat there again. He felt that he could get a comparable coney dog elsewhere for less money, and he wasn’t a fan of the baked hamburger. I thought that the coney dog was fine, but nothing special. I really enjoyed the baked hamburger though. I would like to get it again and check out some of their other menu items; maybe the Feta Fries. For me it was a good first visit....
Read moreLouie's definitely has a big piece of Kokomo's heart and mine too! It's family owned and is a local favorite! Their coney sauce cannot be beat! It's very unique in flavor and very different from any other coney place! I remember the original downtown location and walking there after school with groups of kids just for their bakes. Their new location is near US 931 (old 31) and west of Crew Car Wash. It's set up kind of like an old fashioned dinner. It's a fun atmosphere! The bake is a local favorite and unique to Louie's. Locals call them "gut bombs". It's a hamburger mixture rolled up into a hotdog and cooked in their special coney sauce. They put it on a hotdog bun, add some mustard and top it with onion! I get 2 or 3 of them in a boat without the bun and eat it with a fork. If you've never tried one of these you are missing out! If you're ever in Kokomo, Louie's is a must stop!! Don't just take my word for this.... Go experience it for yourself! You'll...
Read moreNever been here before. New to area. We have a Louies Texas red hotdogs place in NY. This sorta reminds me of it. When I first walked in many of the servers looked and continued working. I stood right in front of counter waiting to see if I would be acknowledged. After about a min a young lady did greet me. I was going to walk out. Beibg that it was not busy at all. When I served or did any customer service first person to see or meet customer is to greet them. That is one thing I wiuld change. People are coming to spend their money at this establishment so they should be promptly greeted. The food was not bad I had the baked and nacho. It was decent pricing. The place was very clean and the bathroom was clean as well. After we were given a server she was very respectful and hospitable. I will definitely return...hope I'm...
