Yesterday afternoon was not the time to visit this ihop. Staff was inconvenienced by the four tables in there apparently because our server was sitting in a spare room on her phone and the manager was on the kitchen line talking to the cook almost the entire 30 minutes we were there. The only hot items were my eggs and a giant piece of French toast, everything else was made before hand which I understand as a restaurant general manager myself, but they could’ve at least thrown it back on the heat before serving it to me and my husband. The sausage was cold to the touch which we were not willing to eat improperly held pork sausage. The hashbrowns were also cold inside. Since we were seated at the table directly out from the kitchen where we would not only hear every word of the manager’s conversation, but also see her, we both stared at her for ten minutes, with her looking at us staring at least ten times, she did not bother to come out of the kitchen. My husband finally went to go get the server from using her phone in the spare room and could see stacks of hash browns sitting in the window at five pm on a Friday explaining why everything was cold. The manager also watched him go get our server and didn’t bother to come out still. When my husband informed our server that we wanted the bill, and that most of his food was cold, she went to the kitchen opening and told the manager who’s response was to scream “what do they want!?” To which the server shrugged so finally the manager comes out to swipe her card to comp his part of the meal. Also the cook decided to yell “what? Who said their food was cold!?” So my husband raised his hand and said “I did!” At this point I wanted to level with the manager and let her know what was cold and give her my opinion on the experience as one manager to another, but I have never had a manager avoid me so blatantly! I stood up to walk towards her and she legitimately looked at me, walked towards the bathrooms, and then refused to make eye contact with me so I gave up. She then told the server “make sure you stay out here so you know what’s happening” which I thought was ironic since she hid in the kitchen the entire time we were there. At minimum pretend you care, come over and give us an apology or at least hear me out. I would give the experience a negative score...
Read moreI usually try to give servers the benefit of the doubt as I used to do waitstaff for a few years and I understand that things can happen. However, our experience at this location was unacceptable! We arrived around 2pm and the place was super slow, so we got seated right away. I'm not sure where our waiter was or what he doing, but it took about 15 minutes for him to finally come to our table. No proper introduction just "Hey guys what do you want to drink?". The drinks were brought out soon after. Then after ordering our food, in which I said I didn't want whip cream on my pancakes and that I wanted my eggs scrambled, he proceeded to sit in a booth with his friend diagonal from us chit chatting. Then they moved to a far corner with said friend. We noticed two of the tables to the left of us were still dirty and had not been bussed, during our time there at least 5 different people passed by them without bothering to clean up. When the food was finally brought out, I noticed the whip cream and decided that I would just scrape it off, no big deal. Then the rest of the meal arrived and I noticed my eggs were over easy at which point my fiance asked to have them to make it scrambled. He put the order in and then began walking around chatting with a hostess and sat at some booth in the corner again. After waiting at least another 15 minutes, my fiance began to get frustrated and peeked into the kitchen, only to see my food ready to be taken out. She went to the hostess to ask for a manager. Turns out the manager was in the back making the schedule. We told her of all the things gone wrong and she decided to comp our meal. That was not our goal and we were fine paying for our meal, we just hope the management and employees learn from these mistakes.
No matter how slow your are, flip tables as soon as possible, no one likes to see a dirty restaurant.
If you take an order correctly and the kitchen messes it up, don't blame it on them, just apologize and get it fixed asap.
Never sit around the restaurant where the guests can see you, it's unprofessional. If you want to talk with co-workers, do it in the back.
Whether it's a table of friends or strangers both should be treated with the same...
Read moreWas at the restaurant for over an hour waiting for our order a white male which I’m assuming is one of the managers came out to apologize and say our food was given to another person and offered to get us beverages while we waited for our food to quickly come out. I understood it was an honest mistake and appreciated a manager coming out and make the situation right. We waited for our food about 20 minutes later a woman came out not sure of her name but assuming she’s one of the managers too as she was dressed like one and had her hair in a bun came out to give us our food didn’t say a word to us besides the name of our order then just walked away. I decided to check our food just to make sure it was all in there just to find out I was missing something went back in there to let the woman that brought out our food know that it wasn’t in there and she went back and forth with me telling me it was. I went back out to check the food AGAIN since she wasn’t going to give it to me and could careless what experience she gave me after waiting over an hour already at the restaurant and still not having my food and CLEARLY it wasn’t there (as I had already once checked my food) so I had to go back inside to tell her it wasn’t there she walked away very rudely without once again saying anything to me just to bring my a side that I WASNT missing when I told her 3 times the exact item that was missing. I then told her I could show her the food (clearly it hurt her so much to give me my food that I had been waiting on for over an hour) she followed me outside just to see with her own eyes that I was in fact “telling the truth” and she finally went back in to get me my food. She clearly cares more about being right as she followed me out to my car and opened all my food to try to prove me wrong rather than to just give me 4 slices of French toast. Was at the restaurant for over an hour and 30 minutes and yet after giving my order away to the wrong person and still missing food in my order STILL had the most rude, uncomfortable and...
