Since we’re not from the South Austin area we wanted to try a dessert spot down there while visiting a friend and he highly recommended La Ola Pop Shop down in Kyle. Luckily for us, his recommendation was spot on as La Ola is a great little ice cream shop with a large variety of different cures to whatever your sweet tooth desires. Parking is pretty accessible as it’s in a small strip of stores and restaurants and there’s ample outdoor seating as well to take in a nice summer night. The interior of the store is also nice and clean, making you feel like you’re in a well run place from the moment you step in. We ordered a banana pudding scoop in a cone and a scoop of the Cookie Monster in a cup. The line here moves pretty quickly which is good so we didn’t have to wait long from the moment we entered to the moment we began eating outside. The ice cream was delicious. The banana pudding tastes just as advertised with chunks of Nilla wafer throughout the bites, incredibly spot on. The Cookie Monster also tasted great, essentially a cookies and cream scoop dyed blue, but why not have a bit of fun with it? The whole experience was great and if ice cream isn’t your thing they have numerous other options like shakes and ice pops to get you by. The only ding we can think of is that the trash outside was overrunning and looked like it hadn’t been changed in hours. Nevertheless, we’re very glad we stopped by here to get a sweet treat and would highly recommend it to anyone in the far South Austin/Kyle area looking to cool off on a summer night.

I've only been here a few times as I've recently discovered it through word of mouth. Every time we've come through the door to enter or leave we receive a welcoming "hello"/"welcome" and a "thank you"/"goodbye". I find this very refreshing & unique compared to the customer service from other places. The wide variety of popsicles, icecream & smoothies is fantastic! It's pretty affordable as well & I love that they have the coupon punch card!! All the icecream and popsicles are made by them & not outsourced and some of the ingredients are even locally sourced from my understanding. This is fabulous as locals get to shop local and we (customers) get to show support locally indirectly as well! Its fantastic to have a company like theres here in Kyle, TX that allows me to bring my kids, friends, and family to the heart of downtown beauty of Kyle. They do get very busy so unfortunately due to the size of the shop there's not many places to sit so if you have to eat outside the place I suggest you be a fast eater in this Texas heat 😉 & have plenty of napkins. I'm sure it keeps the costs down, so in order to continue offering affordable treats I believe we can all handle the small space 😉. I'm excited about this locally owned shop & hope you take a moment to give them a visit.

Sept 8, 2025: My sister is in town with her preggers bestie and have been here three times since they arrived. Her best friend is in love like I am with the mangonada. We had a late dinner at Aviators and while I was waiting for food her friend commented she could really go for another one. I told them to hurry and go over without me while I waited for food because they were closing in 15 min. As a former food service worker I wasn't pumped sending them so close to close but I'm also not messing with a pregnant girls cravings. They went over and ordered half the menu I swear and also unfortunately brought bonus customers in behind them. The girls at the counter were so helpful and friendly even though I know they probably thought they were done for the night. I hope they see this and know how happy they made a 5month momma to be happy last night. She sat in my living room smiling and enjoying every bite of her order. And I'm endlessly sorry for being those people right at the end of the night. Sept 2024: Obsessed with everything especially the loaded mangonada. Lol if we are driving by and they are open my husband and I are stopping. Unique flavors to try and the friendliest staff on the planet. Even if you roll in before they close to get your fix. Love love love.

I’m rating it a 5 star bc the ice cream is good! Unfortunately there is a particular older lady that really kills the vibe for the rest of the other employees so that itself is zero stars. We attend this location for the first time this Saturday 7/21/21, one of our order was incorrect,my son wanted 2 scoops of 2 different ice cream (strawberry vanilla and cotton candy) instead he got chocolate and even when my husband told this older lady that attended and checked us out she gave him an attitude. Instead of saying “I’m sorry for the mixed up order let me get you the correct one” she just said “it’s chocolate”. So my husband told her we didn’t get either the 2 scoop that we paid for or the correct order. So will you be able to fix it? Which she did but with an attitude. So we attended the following day (Sunday) to see if maybe we got a different person or if the lady was having a bad day if we end up getting attended by her. Well my husband is very observant of everything regarding customer service skills wise and he noticed that the same lady that got us the day before was giving out these punching card to all 3 white clients the were ahead of us and bc we were Hispanic she didn’t even offer a card. Mind you we wearing our mask so she didn’t know it was us. It’s unfortunate that we try to support a business and their employees customer...

This place is absolutely the best ice cream shop I've ever been to. Their selection is plentiful and they always have new flavors coming out often. I've always taken my friends and family here when they visit us from out of town. They love it as well.

I was upset today when my 13yo son walked in to buy ice cream and a mangonada for me. He walked out with the order but my mangonada was way overfilled with chamoy. I order mangonadas all the tkme there and it has never been like this, EVER! I walked into the shop right after my son returned to the car to see if they can remake another one for me since I haven't touched it yet. I gave it to the young lady and told her she just made this for my son and if it's OK, if she can remake me another one with much less chamoy because this is entirely too much. She went to the back and I think the lady owner came out to speak to me. I think she's the owner. Anyways, she told me that she can make me another one but I would have to pay at least half price. That's crazy considering that I gave them back the mangonada that wasn't even touched. It would be a total of me paying $11 for a single mangonada. Not right at all. I ended up asking for a straw and sucking out all the excess chamoy. I shouldn't have had to do that. Still my favorite ice cream shop. Just disappointed...
