Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Kyle

I read a lot of negative reviews about the food quality and staffing attitudes but thankfully I didn't seem to get the attitude and or lack of food today. I just moved to Kyle from Plano where I would have Tropical Smoothie pretty often. So, I already know what I like. Today I ordered on the app for curbside asap. After I placed my order I realized I submitted my order right at 12:30pm. So I prepared myself to wait really long. A long line wrapped around the building so I could not actually park for curbside in the front. I went in and a few people were waiting. My order wasn't ready but they did tell me it was being worked on. My smoothie was made within a minute of me waiting and given to me immediately. Staff did seem a little frazzled but it was lunch rush with only 4 employees total that I could see. I got my food about 2 minutes after my smoothie and checked my order. The buffalo chicken wrap was fine, my salad looked fine, and drink was good. When I got home I did notice there wasn't as much dressing for my salad as I thought. I read the salads were itty bitty, but mine was a lot. The picture doesn't do justice of how much is actually in the bowl. I do wish there was more chicken but I'm sure I would have not eaten all of it had there been more. My mother in law said her buffalo chicken wrap was really good. I'm glad we didn't have the experience others had, and maybe that's just training in progress there. I will continue to visit more often and hopefully it will get better for everyone else. Ordered a pickup order at this location on 9/25. I order a chicken caesar wrap and a smoothie combo. When I arrived inside, I noticed a handful of people were sitting around waiting for their order. I was 10 minutes late picking up my order, so when I went to the counter, I was told that for there was no yogurt to make my smoothie and I could either sub for a different ingredient or add extra of a current ingredient. I asked for the latter and sat down. For ten minutes, no one received any food or drink nor an update on their order. A team member eventually came out from the back and notified everyone that there was no thawed out chicken or tortillas to make wraps for the people waiting for an item that required either or both of the two. She was overwhelmed and remorseful of this and stated that orders were backed up for an additional 23-30 minutes, but if ordered online or on the app, we could request a refund and cancel our orders. I left and did so and a week later, I have not received any correspondence regarding my pending refund. At this point, I am taking it as a loss and do not expect to receive a refund from my order. Service has normally been slow at this location in the past, but I do hope they get the necessary assistance and guidance as needed to be a successful location. In the future, I will not order ahead and will try one of the locations in North Austin. Just a fair warning for those who may order food in a small time gap such as a lunch break, on your way...

I wanted to give this place some time since it just opened. There still are a lot of kinks they are working out. This place is an awkward location. You have to turn into a side street and then turn in. There is not an entrance from Kyle Parkway. There were 3 cars in the drive thru when I walked in. I stood at the counter for a few minutes before I was even acknowledged. It was slightly confusing where the line would have started and stopped. I had an idea of what I wanted before going in. I wanted a peanut butter shake. I was told they were out of peanut butter due to the recall. I then opted for a shake , but did not want Strawberries. I appreciated the fact that I could substitute whatever I wanted to the shake. I did get my shake quickly.

I did appreciate the young girl working (Who was not wearing a name tag nor was her name on my receipt.) using my name when my order was ready. That was a nice, friendly touch. This place is brand new, so I am not going to nit pick. It will take some time before this place is running like a well oiled machine. I do appreciate the fact that I can get something different in Kyle other than the same chicken, pizza, Chinese or Mexican. I will definitely be back. They had a ton of healthy options on the menu that I can still pick up and not have to worry about if I am going to be able to...
