Shipley's when you were over off 150, your doughnut case was full and we always enjoyed popping in. I knew that they were going to move locations once they started building the strip center off the Kyle Parkway. My kid and I decided to pop in to grab doughnuts. Apparently if you come in after 830 am, you are lucky to get anything you are looking for. Gone are the days where the doughnut case was full. The had 2 kinds of cake doughnuts. The young lady behind the counter said, "That is all we have." If you looked around, the case looked like it had been picked over by folks prepping for the zombie apocalypse. You would have not thought the place would have been that picked over at 830 am in the morning. I did get my cinnamon roll. As I bit into it, it did not have the same taste as I remembered from when this place was off Center street, or when I had gone to other Shipley's. I had expected it to be a little "fresher" tasting with a nice "chew" to it. To me, it tasted like it had been sitting out for longer than a day and I know they make their doughnuts fresh daily.
The location is slightly awkward when you turn in. That is because of the design of the Kyle Parkway. If you are not sure where you going, you will miss the turn and have to go the back way in.
I am sure this place is still working out the "kinks". I will probably go back in a few weeks to see if the quality and service has...
Read moreI wouldn't typically ever give a 1 rating. And prior to this experience I would have given at least the three if not four star for this location. Unfortunately when we bought a dozen donuts today they all ended up having a chemical taste to them. When we were in the store I had noticed there was a very strong chemical cleaning smell, that was very overpowering that we could smell it in the car before we even got out. Initially that was no big deal, just get in get the donuts and go. When the kids were eating their first donut they mentioned it tasted funny. I didn't give it much thought and told them to eat it anyway that's all they're getting as far as a donut. When we got home I started to eat mine when I realized it did taste disgusting. It tasted literally like the chemicals we were smelling inside and outside the store. I feel horrible and I dismissed their concerns, but how much cleaner do you have to be using for you to taste it in their donuts? We're already making a conscious decision to eat something that's not great for our bodies, but treating ourselves nonetheless. But to then taste cleaning chemicals in the food, absolutely not. There are other donut places in Kyle that have good donuts without that. I tried to call them but the managers leave before 11:00, so I sent an email through...
Read moreI am a big Shipleys fan! That being said by 9 am in the morning the donuts that we got tasted stale and the kolaches were over cooked. When I went in the store the person that was getting my order was rude and bit unpleasant to talk to. I asked if the they had chocolate glazed donut holes. The response was, we do not make those here. I then asked if they had any hot glazed donuts and then she said that they were done making donuts and that they cleaned everything already. I am kind of surprised by that because of Shipleys is suppose to be open till 5pm! How old are the donuts stay good for? I would say that the donuts I ordered seemed as though they been out for a while and tasted stale. The kolaches were dark brown showing that they were over baked. This location was such a disappointment! I hope that they could bring up their standards to the ones that...
