On Saturday night July 6, 2019 we visited the Denny’s on SH 146 in La Porte. We had a great little waitress. She was the only waitress on duty and she was doing her very best to keep up with everyone. She was sweet to anyone she spoke to. There was a customer who had a complaint about how her food was prepared. She nicely brought it to the waitresses’ attention and she promptly and politely took her food back to the cook. It was taking longer than expected to fix the customers order. She asked to speak with the manager to get the meal removed from her ticket, as she could no longer wait for her food. The manager came over and was rude to the customer, refused to admit fault and told the customer she was being too picky and then proceeded to blame everything on the waitress. He did all this right in front of all customers and in front of the waitress. You could tell she was very upset but she remained professional. The manager consistently argued with the customer and loudly. He told her several times she was wrong and he was right. Everyone on the restaurant herd this conversation. When it was time for us to pay out, the manager was at the register and we expressed how disappointed we were in how he handled things. He should have comped that tables entire ticket and never raised his voice, let alone telling the customer how wrong she was or blaming anything on anyone. He then told us how wrong we were and that he didn’t care what we thought. Everyone in the restaurant was complaining at this point, about the manager and his ethics and lack of professionalism. He again started playing the blame game and blamed the cook (who was outside on a break and couldn’t hear him) for everything that was wrong. Please keep in mind, that he blamed the waitress (female) right to her face in front of the entire restaurant; but wouldn’t blame the cook (male) to his face. Both customers that confronted him were also female. I am filing a formal complaint with Denny’s as well as putting this review on here and many other forms of social media. Read moreWorst dining experience ever. I don't expect much from Denny's, but the experience here was so horrible I am still in shock. The hostess (Karen) seated the party who came after us on the list in the round corner booth we should have received as we had 4 adults, 3 children in our party. When I asked why she stated that our party wouldn't fit there and then asked if we would fit at a table with four chairs. She acted like it was all a mistake but I had heard her telling them not to worry about the wait because they would get that table when they walked in. It seemed they all knew each other. I understand that small town mentality, but it is extremely unprofessional. I had to tell her we would be given the next corner booth available for her to understand where we should be seated with a party our size. After we were seated, we ordered and ate. Towards the end of our meal a live cockroach fell out of the vent over our table onto my brother in law who was holding his one year old daughter. We immediately quit eating and I went to pay for the meal. I told the man checking us out that a roach had fallen from the vent onto us and he seemed surprised then said that maybe we wanted some drinks to go. I told him it made me sick that we had eaten anything there and he had plenty of time to offer to comp our meal. He did not. We left, I wrote the company and requested a full refund of my money. Read moreIf I had a choice to put no stars I would. I went in with my children around 8:30 am on April 11th. The service was HORRIBLE ! This for sure is not a KID FRIENDLY place. Be prepared to be handed a broom after you dine in. If you have children they’ll ask you to pick up after yourself. I called the manager after the incident around 4pm to discuss what happened with the server but she said it had already been “handled “ . She stated it was because my child was throwing food! Even if my son did throw food that’s totally beside the point. You don’t bring me a broom in front of everybody in the restaurant! That was so rude and unprofessional! It made me feel embarrassed as a parent with 2 young kids under two trying to enjoy breakfast. When I asked to get corporates number they said they are a franchised and the only thing I could do is put a complain with a manager which I was speaking to already!
