Tonight on Kevin's Diner After looking through our stash of dining gift cards we decided that LongHorn Steakhouse would be our destination tonight. Thank you Paul Davis for the gift card from Christmas 2021. We put it to good use. The LongHorn restaurant is in very nice building with a great western theme and many neat decorations throughout the restaurant. Don't let a full looking parking lot detour you because they can seat a large number of people. We arrived around 6 pm. and a friendly hostess seated us immediately. A very nice waitress was promptly there to take our drink order and provide us with a complimentary loaf of bread and butter. I ordered a appetizer of white cheddar stuffed mushrooms. These fresh roasted mushrooms hand stuffed with garlic herb cheese and Parmesan crust are the BOMB! I thought they were fantastic! Shannon for her entrée chose the 12oz Ribeye cooked rare with no seasoning, dinner salad and broccoli with water to drink. I went with the 20 oz Outlaw bone in Ribeye , French onion soup, and a loaded Idaho baked potato with a Mich Ultra draft to drink. The French onion soup was very good. It was covered with a baked dome of melted provolone and swiss cheese. It had a silver dollar sized piece of bread in the onion broth. The broth had a hint of a sweet taste like a small amount of sugar might have been added. I found this unusual for onion soup but still enjoyed it. My steak was cooked to a perfect medium and was a wonderful cut of beef. LongHorn doesn't skimp on the seasoning and I thought my steak tasted great. I needed a extra napkin because the spice was definitely making my nose run. I knew that going in from a previous visit but as KC and the Sunshine band would say "That's the way aha, aha, I Like it" ... My loaded baked potato was a stupendous spud with all the cheesy, bacony, sour cream flavor that makes a potato great. The ice cold beer was refreshing and made me very happy. The service and attitude of our server was fantastic. I had a great dining experience. Shannon wasn't as impressed as I was. She didn't like that they added a small amount of garlic to her broccoli and she also said her steak even though it was cooked perfectly had no flavor. Hmmm, maybe she should rethink the request of no seasoning on her rare cooked steak. 🤦‍♂️ Since this is my review and not hers! 5 stars for LongHorn Steakhouse Until next time Bon appetit

LongHorn Steakhouse in Lafayette, Indiana, exceeded all of our expectations! From the moment we walked in, the staff was welcoming and professional, ensuring we felt right at home. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with just the right balance of casual comfort and sophistication. Our server was outstanding—attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and quick to accommodate our requests. The food was phenomenal! The steaks were cooked to absolute perfection, seasoned beautifully, and incredibly tender. The sides, especially the loaded baked potato and fresh salad, were equally impressive. We also appreciated the attention to detail, from the spotless cleanliness of the restaurant to the prompt refills on drinks. Everything about our experience reflected a team that takes pride in delivering excellent service. If you're looking for a place with delicious food, a professional staff, and a fantastic dining experience, LongHorn Steakhouse in Lafayette is a must-visit. We'll definitely be back soon!

Update 11/1/18 Tonight was the 4th or 5th time we've been there. The food is still excellent but the service is terrible. Forgotten orders, no refills on drinks, mistakes with the food, ect. I can forgive a mistake or two when it's busy but not every time we've been there. Tonight, there were 6 mistakes made with the food at a table for four people. With as many steakhouses in Lafayette to choose from, I don't think we will be going back to Longhorn again. The food was excellent. The place looks nice, if you're into the cowboy theme. The service was a bit slow but we were there at change of shift so that could explain it. Our waitress was very friendly and answered all of our questions. It's pricy and they get you on the upgrades but overall you get what you pay for. It's casual, family friendly, and date night decent. It's easy to see from the road but you have to go past it (heading west) and turn left at the gas station light to get to the access road.

This is going to be detailed. The decor was good and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere. The host was great, greeted us as we entered and got us a table right away. We were seated at 1:15 PM Sunday 02/17/19. Party of 7. The waitress comes to greets us then scurried off and brings back two glasses of water before disappearing agin. 1:30 she finally returns and takes our drink order. Another ten minutes goes by and then the all but one drink is delivered. We put in our order and off she was again. Another server brought our last drink. Now, the berry sangria was fabulous, as was the captain and coke. The beer glasses were dirty and the old fashioned was not well made. 1 hour and 15 minutes goes by and then our food is finally brought out. I had: 18 ounce bone in rib eye with parmesan crust, sweet potatoes, and rice. My steak and potatoes looked beautiful. My rice was no where to be seen. The parmesan crust was delightful and that's about it. My steak was heavily salted and cold. My mother and aunt both had the 18 ounce rib eye with broccoli and baked potatoes. Their steaks were also cold. My husband had the filet and salmon. Salmon was dry, cold, and unseasoned. The steak was cold and had enough salt for all of Lafayette. My sister and brother in law both got the 8 ounce sirloin. Theirs were both supposed to be medium and were instead well done, but warm at least! My sister said the mashed potato was awesome! My brother had the New York. Cold but well seasoned he said. Why didn't we send it back sense it was all cold? Because we already waited over an hour for $200+ of food! The waitress returned about 20 minutes of our food being delivered so I could finally ask for my rice, which was delicious. We ordered a to go item, which we would have liked to do right when our food came but the waitress was no where to he found. Waited another nearly 45 minutes for that order of one steak with broccoli and a salad. Our waitress had no personality, was rude, and was very good at disappearing. We will never return. If you do go, my advice is to only get drinks and sides because that's all they could get right, and be...

I've ate here many times in the last year. The first experience was great, but it keeps going downhill... There used to be long waits, and the food was great. However, you walk in now, and it's practically a "ghost town".

I can only assume that it's because the service and food quality is deteriorating. I have eaten here twice in the last month, and both times the service and food were unacceptable.

The servers have repeatedly forgotten things, and need to be asked multiple times. Half of the time we'll be waiting while we watch them sit around and talk. After dealing with the manager, I'm pretty sure I understand why it is the way it is.

On a recent visit, I decided to order a LH (Long Horn) Burger, because the ribs and steaks have been overcooked the past couple of times. When I took my first bite, I immediately noticed the burger crumbling. I ordered it medium, but it was so dry and overcooked that I couldn't eat it.

I'm not one to usually send something back, but the place was practically empty and there was no excuse for such a poorly cooked burger. (I'm pretty sure that I could make a better burger in the microwave.)

Anyhow, after watching our party finish their food, the manager finally brought me out a replacement. He seemed very smug. I immediately noticed that it was missing bacon, but didn't say anything because everybody else was done eating and I didn't want them to have to wait another 30 minutes for it to be corrected.

Also, again the manager didn't care enough to check the ingredients on his business' signature burger before bringing it out. I can't expect his staff to care anymore than he does.

For anybody that's visiting the area, I'd recommend Texas Roadhouse over Long Horn every day of the week. I've been there many times, and I can't remember a single time that I was as displeased as I am...
