Tampico's — Restaurant in Lafayette

The only reason there’s even a star on here is for the atmosphere. The place is absolutely beautiful and the servers are really friendly. Why isn’t there four more stars lit up? Let me tell you why. The food was absolutely terrible. That was a disappointment. I go in there expecting great food and left with paying a big bill and only taking a couple of bites. The salsa tasted like the Chef just heated up some tomato soup and added some diced onions and peppers to it. I ordered the crawfish quesadilla. The fishy taste just totally overpowered the whole thing. The bottom of the quesadilla was sooo soggy and greasy. The peppers in it were all mushy. My friend ordered stuffed shrimp, wrapped in bacon, and “fried”. When I took a bite of hers because she didn’t like her food either, it was hard. It didn’t even appear to be fried at all. It was almost like they made it forever ago, took it out the freezer then microwaved it. The only way to actually eat it without it not tasting AS bad was to dunk each one completely in that cheese sauce. Which wasn’t that great either. I didn’t come on here to just bash the place. But I sure hope the manager or whoever will fix this issue and see how exactly the chefs are cooking and preparing the food. This is coming from someone who can eat just about anything. I’m not even one to leave a review but I feel like this one is necessary so you can at least have more than 6 cars in the parking...

I’ve gone here since I was a kid. For well over 30 years have sworn it was my favorite Mexican food in the world. My experience today flipped everything I’ve known about the place on its head. The chips had zero salt and every salt shaker in my reach was clogged up and nasty. We ordered a fajita salad with “mixed greens” and ranch dressing, salad gets to the table straight iceberg lettuce (ew) and no dressing. They were out of ranch with no good substitute to offer. I ordered chicken ranchero it showed up with shrimp. Then there were fruit flies buzzing around us the entire meal. While we did get a measly discount on the overpriced inedible salad the whole experience was trashed. I will sadly never return and maintain my hunt for the real best Mexican. We know there’s enough of those in town. I’ve always been worried this place would shut down, but it seems at this pace...

We go every time Linda Lou plays…Tonight was very disappointing…no service in the area where the music was playing, it was hot and when we went to the bar to get our drinks the bartender never acknowledge us, he could have said he would be with us soon but nothing..it took awhile to get 2 drinks…had to go search for someone to get plates for my friend that ordered at the bar, also had to search for someone who would take our orders because the rest of us could not order from the bar…if it wasn’t for my friend Linda playing I would have left…thanks to Poppy for waiting on us finally, he absolutely saved the night…If you are short staffed someone needs to take control of the situation…a few people left because there...
