At PCH and Broadway/Laguna Canyon... The beach jewel of Laguna. Parking can be expensive or tight in Laguna. I strongly recommend the local city bus trolly system. Park at a free lot away from the city, trolly in. Trollys are free see city website for routes n times. They are popular and can get busy. There are scattered in town lots and meters, with convenience pricing. * The beach... A gentle beach cleaned almost every day. TIP * No plastic silverware allowed + no booze. People were getting stabbed by fork tones, bummer. Please, you visit bring out more than you pack in. I could write a pamplet on this destination. Highlights - Cleaned M/F public restrooms at either end of the beach. Iconic lifeguard structure, other lifeguard stands. Watch out for rip currents. When in doubt ask a guard about swimming conditions. Otherwise a great wading or swimming beach. To the north is bird rock with tons of seals. Also tide pools nearby. Adventure here at your own risk, I suggest river shoes or old hiking shoes. Sometimes the city has docents talking about the tide pools creatures, nice! Some dolphin pods cruise around by the outside swim bouys. Back inland, two basketball courts. An S curved wood planked walkway runs parallel to the ocean break north and south. Along the walkway are dotted with the best benches in the city you can comfortably sit on. Some grass to picnic. Space even we play frisbee :) Main beach is bordered by PCH here, expect moderate heavy traffic in summer. A mix of OC, some hobos, locals, teens, etc. Main lifeguard station on the north side. South side has a play area and some grass for families with younger kiddos. A great walking beach or even jogging. South borders the famous Laguna Hotel. Note there is plenty of sand to walk south on. North has a walkway you can take the distance of Heisler Park (see review neat artwork) past the famous Las Brisas restaurant and gazebo. Main beach is highly recommended if you find parking. TIP * If you do park at a meter, consider using the online APP it will tell you how much time is left on your meter. This system reports to the Garndames (meter police) so be prompt! Last, I suggest those collapsible market baskets with wheels for your...
Read moreLove the walkability 👌 Heavily trafficked, but still room to move around. Nice, winding boardwalk. Sandy beach, some grassy areas, bball courts, and vball sand courts—plenty of opps to get active. Visited on a Sunday after 6pm; BUSY. My fav part was my uber ride back to the hotel bc I was able to see the architecture of the shops, restaurants, and establishments I missed while on the boardwalk. Reminds me a lot of mountain towns. Hear me out.. take the walkable shopping area of Boulder, CO - and place those buildings in front of the ocean. THAT’s what it reminded me of. They are no larger than 2-stories bc it would obstruct the view. I didn’t go into any businesses, just meandered 🙃 But it was lovely! I had the wonderful setting sun, perfectly warm breeze, and plenty of positive energy to feel and absorb all around. I was told Sundays are family days & the beach gets packed. Certainly noticed that. As I said though, still plenty of room—it wasn’t people on top of people. Thank...
