Dolce Gelato — Restaurant in Laguna Beach

so my friend and I were in dolce gelato July 25 at 9:45 PM when I ordered mine gelato with no problem but my friend, and it might just because she’s short, was ignored and not offered for her order for several minutes. the person taking my order Went on to finish a waffle cone when the girl who rung me up, just stared at us and shuffle things around the counter. This girl had short brown hair and a white top and was singing a song that really didn’t match the vibe for Saturday night, but I digress. Anyways, that’s not my issue. My issue is the way that she rudely finally realize that the line has been held up because she didn’t help my friend.. she finally asked my friend if I need anything and she asked to try a sample which she orders a scoop of and she hastily grabs as she almost does it through rolled eyes. It’s OK to be a little tired. I know it’s a Saturday night and it’s been busy Laguna, but it was the tone of voice and the attitude that led me to write this review when it was time to ring up I definitely noticed her aggression and rudeness to my friend throughout the whole transaction, my friend is a really bubbly person so she was very chipper to say thank you multiple times and the girl ringing her up. Didn’t even bother to say thank you once even though she was the paying customer. Our issue isn’t even the boy who was probably focused on the waffle cone that was probably gonna burn, but our issue was with the girls attitude with the short brown hair and the brown eyes and the white shirt and the blue jeans at 9:45 on July 25 and Laguna Beach gelato thank...

Thank goodness for this gelato spot, and more importantly, JULIA behind the counter. We were walking back to our car after being kicked out of Carmelita's on the corner at 9:20pm. We had made reservations for my sister's golden birthday dinner celebration at 8:30pm, and the first time our server came to our table, she said it was last call for food and drinks. She sucked the life out of the night, and I would never go back.

That being said, Julia was the light of the evening. We wanted to attempt to lift our spirits with some gelato, and we were surprised to find that Julia was who we needed. We chatted, laughed and got to know each other in a very short amount of time. She made my sister and my parents smile and turned the whole night around. She gave us all these fabulous gelato combos, and we excitedly agreed to try them out. I actually used to work for a gelato shop, and I feel like I missed the opportunity to bring the same energy as Julia. She's a rad person and someone to meet while you're on this planet. I will definitely continue to be a patron here.

My wife and I came in on our way home today for a little treat. The girl helping is was really nice. My wife ordered a small cup with two flavors and before she grabbed the cup I said to make it a medium instead and add a 3rd flavor. When I went to pay, there were now two cups and she charged me for two. I should have spoken up at that point, but I was too tired to deal with it (fog of having a 10 month old). We decided to take the second cup home and asked for a to-go cup. She then acknowledged her mess up and told me a to-go container would be 75 cents after I just paid $11 for two tiny cups gelato. The part that made me upset afterwards was that the owner or manager was right there watching the whole thing and never once said a word to try to address the obvious issue. I didn't care about getting a refund or anything, but a simple sorry or giving me a to-go container would have been enough for me to make this a 4 or 5 star review. Disappointed that he didn't even try to be friendly and I felt more like a transaction than a...
