I live in Arizona and had not seen the ocean in years. Laguna beach was recommended. We drove to the beach and parked on a road nearby.

I was disappointed. The beach didn't smell good. It almost smelled moldy and dank. Maybe all beaches smell like this, but I hope not.

The beach was free of trash and the ocean water was clear and appeared to be clean. The beach had dark sand but you could walk on it easily. There were an abundance of scuba divers and snorkelers. You definitely need a wet suit because the water was very cold. There were no lifeguards. There were cliffs and rocks to hike on. There were beautiful tidal pools teaming with life. The locals were very friendly, unlike the CA drivers which are dangerous and rude.

There is a beach town (named Laguna Beach) along the edge of the seashore a few hundred yards away. We didn't stop in the town but it was filled with an assortment of quirky stores. I can't say much about them because we went straight to the beach. The town is filled with older beach houses that are well cared for.

It may be I am just ignorant of beaches, but I cannot recommend this beach. The beach just seemed to be commercialized. My main complaint is the smell...

I have been visiting Laguna Beach for over 30 years and it is one of my favorite beaches in Southern California! The town is quaint and fun to walk around. The volleyball courts are well kept. There are many walkways and public use staircases from the hills surrounding the beach. People here are in good spirits and the dog owners are responsible (no mean pit bulls trying to rip your face off like some other beaches in California - no aggressive homeless people with piles of trash either!). The beach is gorgeous and it has a very calming atmosphere. I love it here and will always come back to visit whenever we are in the area. Thank you for maintaining this...

The best beach for the cove enclosure and safety for our Nephew with autism. We love how beautiful all the cliffs and palm trees are as well in this area. Parking can be a challenge in the neighborhood, but be patient and make your rounds because people leave every few minutes like a revolving door. There are also bathrooms and showers to rinse off at. It’s just truly a breathtaking spot. Also, the drive down the canyon past the Sawdust Festival is super cute and lots to do there with...

This place is much better than Santa Monica Beach. It is clean, quiet, and has clear water. You can also see the Giving Tree. You can sit on a bench and enjoy the sea breeze and delicious food. It is worth a visit. Parking is very convenient and there are many parking spaces on the roadside. Few people know about it now, but it is estimated that more and more people will know about it in a few years.
