I used to work at Video Empire , which used to be right next store to Lamppost Pizza, back in 1991. I have known the owner and manager Rudy, since then, and I can honestly tell you that that man has a heart of gold, and treats all of his customers like long term family. The pizza that they have here is the absolute best pizza you will ever get in your life. And I have been to new York, Brooklyn, Boston, Chicago, and even Italy ! It is worth every penny that they charge. I lived in Nevada for 15 years, and I traveled all the way from there around the holidays, just to buy some of that fantastic lamppost pizza that I missed so much. 5 years ago, I moved back to Lake Forest ca. Sometimes I order from lamppost at least 2 OR 3 times per month. I LOVE THIS PLACE ! If you think that Round table, pizza hut, dominos, papa John's, mountain Mike's, etc. Are any better, then you are off...
Read moreI took off a star–not because the food was expensive–but because the quality of the food didn't justify the cost. It was alright, but it shouldn't cost $45 for a medium Hawaiian pizza with potato wedges. You'd have to be slinging some pretty refined food to justify that price.
I also took off a star due to the cleanliness. There were flies all over us during our meal. That's unacceptable.
I see the vibe this place is going for and I think it can work. The beer prices are good, the layout is good, and the offerings are there. It's just too damned expensive in general. I'd rather head over to the Round Table or Mountain Mike's for the all-you-can-eat buffet, at less than half the price. Unless this establishment offered something really special, something unique, something you just couldn't get anywhere else–then I'd be more enthused. As it stands, I can't get overly...
Read moreThey need to end their run here and change hands with a BW3 or something so Lake Forest has a viable sports hang out location, because this place was over priced, horrible food, and bad service. I ordered onion rings and I saw the worker bare hand touch every single onion ring individually after they ran them through the pizza oven...another issue not fried onion rings. After I brought it to the cashiers attention she replied 'that's how food is cooked and we've been here over 20 years' as if she had a script and was seeking confrontation. I remained classy and simply didn't eat the food. After seeing my husband and me not eat the food, she then decided to try acceptable customer service and ask if there was anything she could do. By then it was too late, no and never will I eat...
