Don Chico Taqueria 2 — Restaurant in Lake Oswego

I’ve been coming to Don Chico Taqueria for over a year and have recommended it to dozens of my coworkers. Sadly, I recently had an experience that completely changed how I feel about this place.

I’ve always enjoyed their burritos, but their salsa cups are so small that I often end up eating my burrito dry. To avoid this, I started asking for extra salsa, never thinking it was an issue—especially since most Mexican restaurants have a salsa bar where customers can get what they need within reason.

This time, however, the young lady at the window informed me (rather abruptly) that moving forward I’d be charged for extra salsa. She said she’d “make an exception this time” as she handed me my food. It caught me off guard and left me feeling embarrassed, as though I was being reprimanded over something so minor.

I decided to give them another chance and even offered to pay for the extra salsa at the point of sale. I specifically asked for four cups and paid for them—but was only given three. At that point, I couldn’t help but feel undervalued as a loyal customer.

It’s disappointing that after a year of support and countless recommendations, something as insignificant as a few extra salsa cups has soured my experience. Over a $0.50 charge and poor service, they’ve lost a regular customer. I won’t be returning, and I won’t be recommending them to anyone going forward.

Love me some Don Chicos! The restaurant in OC is awesome, great selection of food and perfectly priced. I stumbled across this mobile Don Chicos on McLaughlin Blvd while on a stroll waiting for a vehicle to be pretty'd up at Washman. The selection is obviously not as grand as the restaurant, but still a decent showing of some of their staple dishes. I elected to order the huevos rancheros with ham and I wasn't disappointed.
