This was my first time seeing a film at the Lake Theater, although I have been previously to see live music. I adore the cozy modern vibe of the space, the comfortable seating, and the little touches of humor throughout the decor.
Unfortunately the food does not live up to the clever and appealing ingredient lists on the menu (or the pricing). The burger and salads we ordered were surprisingly bland, although the parmesan oregano fries were more flavorful.
The thing that really puzzled me was the food system during the movie. Orders are signaled as ready by a puck with bright flashing blue lights. In the first 20 minutes of the movie, there are a lot of orders that become ready and are super distracting. Compounding this, there is a walkway and exit in the upper section that many people use to pick up food and return to their seats. This is close enough to the ceiling that anyone using it blocks the projectors path to the screen and hides part of the movie from the entire theater (including subtitles).
I’m leaving a five star review here since I like what the place is aiming for, but the owners could certainly improve the experience greatly with...
Read moreWe used to be regulars, but the quality has definitely gone downhill in recent months. They have revamped the menu, changed their fries (waaahh, the old rosemary fries were so much better!), and changed their ketchup to regular old store bought ketchup instead of homemade. Their burgers are completely bland, I honestly don't think they even season the meat, whereas before one of our favorite things about their burgers was how well they were always seasoned. I ordered their basic house salad and added salmon to it, bringing my salad total to $20, yikes! The salad was small, the fish portion was very small, and I would hope that in a $20 salad I wouldn't have to constantly pick out slimy pieces of nasty brown lettuce! Pretty unappetizing. All in all, I wish they would've kept the same quality as they had before. We've been here many times over the years, and it's sad that it's no longer a go-to...
Read moreAbsolutely LOVED my first experience at Lake Theater & Cafe. Buying tickets online was quick and easy. We walked in, picked up our tickets, ordered a bunch of food, and plopped down in the event space. That space is “cabaret style” seating, so it was nice to have a table to eat at. Service was kind and quick. When I say the food was out of this world. Every first bite I took was followed by a little dance because my taste buds were so happy. We had the hummus, rosemary fries with aioli, and kent’s artisan pizza. I loved the hummus with the garlic confit and whatever seasoning that was on the flatbread. The rosemary fries were phenomenal, but the aioli…chef’s kiss. Finally, the pizza’s ingredients were delicious and it was baked perfectly. While the theater is smaller, and certainly not sound proof, the experience as a whole...
