Today 9/2/24 I bought the caramel cake from Pete’s Produce on 87th and Loomis it had a Best Buy date of 9/12/24. The cake looked absolutely amazing but the taste didn’t match the appearance. It was extremely dry on the inside, I mean no type of bounce back on the cake , no moisture at all. You can taste granulated sugar in the caramel, it’s extremely sweet but the caramel wasn’t nasty . Now I will say I haven’t tried the cake directly from the bakery so it may be worth trying to see if it’s moist vs Pete’s because I don’t know how Pete’s store the cakes.
