We went to Drew's for brunch on a Sunday and were lucky to arrive when there was no wait for a table. It's immediately apparently that you're at the doorstep of Boystown, not because of the pride flag but the well maintained interior and classy decor that stands in sharp contrast to the neighboring venues on either corner of the street. The one strange thing about this venue is that they're cash only. ATM is located near the restroom
I'm a burrito hound so I went with the breakfast burrito with sausage while my wife opted for a Turkey Club. I also needed a bit of hair of the dog, so I ordered a Bloody Mary while my wife got a mimosa. I think it important to note that Drew's has a $35 bottomless mimosa bunch, alas, there's no TVs so it won't qualify for a Sunday football venue for the boys. The house Bloody, however, was fantastic. Lots of toppings and perfectly spicy with a ton of flavor.
While the breakfast burrito was a decent size, I found it excessively greasy and somewhat wanting. It's just egg, sausage, cheese, salsa verde, and (somewhat undercooked) potato. If they just added some pico de gallo or avocado, it would be a material improvement - at $13, there's certainly plenty margin. Note: they also offer an avocado toast for $13, which is annoying since I can make in about 2min for $2, but I digress.
My wife enjoyed her Turkey club though it wasn't anything to write home about, and she also got fries which were surprisingly tasty - just the right amount of crispness and seasoning. She also ordered the red sangria which was both sweet and tart- thoroughly enjoyable.
The wait staff was flying around and I wondered if they were a bit short-handed, but I can say that our experience with them was overwhelming positive and they clearly knew the menu and made excellent recommendations.
I did notice that the window ledges were very dusty, which is surprisingly to see in such a busy, customer-facing area of a restaurant. I don't want to read into it too much though. The rest of the the restaurant was very well maintained.
I think next time we come to Drew's will be purely for drinks. At $9 a cocktail, they're not cheap drinks, but they are...
Read moreUpdate: Tried the location again and still maintained a moderate experience. Prices have increased and has become one of the most expensive bottomless options in the area with a less than average timer of 1 1/2 hours. Server was friendly and attentive which was the only saving grace. Still cash only in 2023 which is super frustrating to split amongst a table of 8 people. Would not prioritize this location against others in the future.
Update: Extremely frustrated with the management here. I reserved a table about a week in advance for my 30th birthday celebration. I received confirmations via email and even received a text the morning of to confirm I would be coming in. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a sign on the door saying the restaurant was closed due to "maintenance". I attempted calling the restaurant with no answer. I am fully understanding that things happen but it should be a priority of management to reach out to those who have reserved (not to mention the fact that I noted it was a special occasion) if they were unable to accommodate. Imagine my frustration when I arrive with friends to celebrate my birthday to find out the place was closed. We had to scramble last minute to find a place that could take us on a moments notice and completely ruined the day. I would highly recommend to management that if something like this happens in the future that you contact your reservations to let them know. Completely ruined the day for us. Not likely going to return after this.
Former Post: Overall great brunch experience. Pricier than comparable brunch menus in the area but the bottomless offering is always appreciated. Service was incredibly fast and the food was excellent. Would absolutely return and...
Read moreI have seen this spot for years but for some reason I was never been able to stop by until last week that my friend invited me for saturday brunch and since I was off I decided to give them a try. First the server called me a day before to make sure we were gonna go which I confirmed, this was the first time I got a call from the actual server that will be serving us, that was nice. When we got there it was a party of 8 so we got a big table in the back and for my surprised it had my name written on it and it said for Jorge and his VIP friends, what ??? that was absolutely adorable, I wasn't expecting this little detail but it make my first impression great already. Our server Rob was not just a good server but and OUTSTANDING gentleman. From the funny comments to interaction with the group, he was truly a special one. We got the bottomless mimosa package, $47 dollars CASH ONLY and that comes with a plate and the sparking wine. The mimosas comes also with a bunch juices so you can make your mimosas the way you want it (orange, guava, pinipple, cranberry). Food arrived and let me tell you it did not disappointed at all, I got a chicken avocado sandwich and it was delicious. each of my friend got differents plates like veggie burger, pizza, croissant sandwich and they were all so good. As mentioned this was my first at Drew's but it definitely won't be the last time. I give them a 10/10, from the service to the attention to the food it was an amazing experience. Shoutout to Rob, he was the best...
