This Cafe was about a 7 min walk from our motel, and it is so beautiful and calm on a Sunday morning.

The menu is extensive and doesn't even list everything in the bakery cases. I had the House toast (it listed different ingredients than what were used but I assume it may be what's seasonal/available, though that isn't really stated clearly), the spinach mushroom and cheese croissant, a cinnamon toast crunch latte (hot) and a new banana milk latte (iced).

The House Toast was amazing! Whoever put these ingredients together was a genius. Mine did not have the peaches, which I was excited to try so that was a little disappointing, but when I tried it that thought disappeared. It has blueberries, raspberries and possibly blackberries, spinach, cherry tomatoes and balsamic glaze on top of a cheese (I can't tell if it was the listed cheese or not). I am so insanely impressed by this and will be attempting to recreate this at home.

The spinach mushroom and cheese croissant I had warmed, and it was fluffy, buttery, crispy, all of the good croissant adjectives. It could have done with maybe a small bit of salt but every other aspect was delicious.

My cinnamon toast crunch latte was great, exactly what I expected, until the last sip was all sugar syrup.

The banana milk latte I was intrigued by, and had to give it a taste. I did bot pay attention to the fact that it wasn't mixed and my first sip was ALL ESPRESSO. This is my fault and after mixing, it was thick, creamy and pretty good, even not being much of a fan of banana. I wish I had mixed it first though because that first sip kind of ruined it for me.

Altogether the meal was amazing, delicious and the Cafe was beautiful with art all on the walls and lovely thriving plants everywhere. The cost was more than I expected but it's Chicago, you've got to expect to pay more in this city.

Thank you to the chef and baristas who put together this...

One of the best coffee shop/bakeries around! Although it may not have the "aesthetic" that many coffee shops nowadays prioritize, Hearts and Flour more than makes up for it in substance.

Drinks: 5/5 I'm not a huge coffee drinker, so it's really nice to have many non-coffee options to choose from! On top of the standard coffee and espresso drinks, they have kombucha, iced teas, Italian sodas, smoothies, and rotating specialty drinks. I typically get an iced green tea with lavender syrup and it is perfect every time!

Bakery: 5/5 I've tried quite a few different pastry items here, and I have been impressed every time. I love their quiches (normally vegetarian, btw!) and was really impressed with their Ube muffin. As a Filipino, I'm pretty picky with my Ube flavored items, but this muffin was not only perfectly soft and moist, it also had so much genuine Ube flavor! Really recommend trying anything and everything out of their pastry case.

Sandwiches: 4.5/5 Another winner! Their sandwiches are generously sized, well balanced flavor-wise, and consistently well-made. Love their sausage egg and cheese sandwich and their vegetarian breakfast sandwich on a biscuit. My only comment here is that it would be nice if the sandwiches came with chips or something.

Service: 5/5 everyone is always so kind and welcoming here! I've never felt rushed or anything, and the staff are always willing to accommodate reasonable requests. Prices here are so reasonable, too!

Space: 4/5 The space is always neat and tidy, bathrooms are always clean as well. I love being able to look through the glass into the bakery to watch the magic happen! Knocking a point because the chairs are the standard metal ones that are kind of uncomfortable after sitting in them...

So disappointed on the service, quality of the food and they take forever to finish a simple order mind you when I say simple I mean simple like a freaking sandwich. When this new bakery open up I was so hyped because it was nice add to the neighborhood for a quick place to go in the morning when your in a rush to go to work you would think but nope I was wrong the average wait time I would say between 10-20 min. Let me add that they’re always messing up the order overcharging so make sure you double check that receipt and make sure you double check your order before you drive off because I gotten a whole complete different order several times. I really wanted to give this place several chances but after like the 5th time of something going wrong I just had to throw the towel! And you would think the food would be awesome to overcome the other aspects but no the food is not horrible it’s just always cold! Maybe they should get a new microwave a better one that heats up more properly! So if you want cold food and you want to be late to work! And you want to be over charge than I suggest for you...

I went to this cute cafe this morning for breakfast with my family. It was amazing and delicious! The staff were very kind and it was quick service. Lots of variety of seating too, with couches and chairs! There is lots of room in the restaurant actually, it’s quite cozy and quiet too. I got a chocolate croissant and a strawberry smoothie and they were delicious! The croissant had a light soft crisp, it was buttery and had a perfect balance of chocolate. The smoothie was cold, fruity and delicious! My mom got the maple long John and the lavender soda. She told me the lavender soda tasted like she was drinking straight out of a pure lavender flower. She also told me the donut was yummy and had a hint of mint. My dad got the vegan sausage bagel and he really enjoyed it. He said the vegan egg, cheese, and sausage were actually really good. The pricing wasn’t bad either!

My friends and I frequently ride here for coffee and pastries before work, and we love it. The service is always with a smile, especially from Kenton at the register. He is always so pleasant and kind. We were happy to see bike racks were installed on the patio! There is something for everyone, vegans included. We will definitely keep coming back on bike rides to support a cause close to my heart. My aunt Meg lived at Misericordia for decades before her passing this year. So grateful to Misericordia for many reasons, and now I can introduce it to my friends as well.
