Oberweis Ice Cream and Dairy Store — Restaurant in Lake Zurich

Just happened to be in town trying a highly rated Chicago/Greek grill and naturally on a Friday night out with the family, a dessert option always follows.

First time trying this location and only the 2nd ever after the Gurnee location which is closest to my house. I would have to say that Oberweis is truly my all-time favorite ice cream.

Oberweis isn't alone and there's other high-end venues whether franchise or local with the likes of Cold Stone, Graeter's and around here parlors carrying Chocolate Shoppe, Capannari, Cedar Crest ice cream, etc.

Been around to quite a few ice cream, fro-yo, fro-cust and gelato shops but in the end, Oberweis remains at the top when it comes to frozen treats for me.

Always a delightful experience dining in the "O" and enjoying world class ice cream. No they're not cheap but then again what is anymore. My boys are well worth anytime they're in the mood.

Venue is kept spiffy clean, friendly customer service, prices are still reasonable for superior quality ice cream and may God bless the Oberweis...

This place has been great up until a few weeks ago. Our family had decided to get desert on a Friday night, we pull up to the drive through and first thing we here is "what do you want"...... now usually we are greeted politely with "how can I help you" or "welcome to oberwise".. so as we are trying to order we here two males goofing around saying weird things and so on so we Finnish up with the order and pull up to the window. The place is dead inside and one car behind us. We forgot to add a kids scoop and asked if we could add to our order. Well he told is it was their policy that we would have to go around again and order. I asked to sleep to a manager and the shift leader comes up and said he will do it this one time but know it's against their policy. I have never heard of this before.. So we get our scoops and he said he needs the Sunday back that it's not ours. Ok we give it back and he said my bad it's yours then again asked for it back. At this point my husband is furious with the way these people are behaving. Just so...

UPDATE: The manager of this location reached out and rectified the situation, and I received a replacement shake today when I went back. The employees knocked it out of the ball park and I received a perfect thick shake how they usually make them! Bumped from 3 stars to 5! Thank you! I've always had great shakes made perfectly from this location for years, perfectly made thick shakes. We went thru drive thru today, and unfortunately I received an almost liquefied shake, didn't notice until we left the place and I took a sip out my shake, I couldn't believe it, but my partners shake was made perfectly thick like usual when I sipped his! I will give this place another try in the future, but if it happens again, I'm crossing this place off my go-to places for shakes, very disappointed! 3 stars only because they got my partners...
