Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen — Restaurant in Lake Zurich

So, I am doing this as a thank you to the staff at this specific Popeye's. Years ago, I had tried Popeye's and did not enjoy it, and was thus turned off. However, I recently had a change of heart because of this specific location.

I am divorced and take my girls out for dinner every other Thursday, and I let them choose. The restaurant they request more than any other restaurant is Popeye's. This is the closest location, so it is where we always end up.

I would first like to commend this staff because the restaurant usually looks understaffed, which I assume is because of everything going on. But they always look to be doing their damnedest to make everything run as smoothly as possible. I see many people complaining in the reviews, I feel like they are doing a great job for what they have to work with.

My daughters are picky eaters. Even though they love Popeye's, they are still rather particular. So I always end up with the weirdest order. Three piece spicy chicken meal, all breasts, 12 piece meal deal with all legs, and 5 extra biscuits. As weird of an order as that is, they never bat an eye and just give me a simple warning that it'll be "15 to 20 minutes" because they have to make more legs. They never seem disgruntled about it or anything, they just want to make sure that I won't be. And they're always super patient as my 5 year old is interrupting the transaction 10 times to make that I ordered her extra biscuits. They are always kind and patient with my little family.

That 15 to 20 minutes is rarely more than 10-15. We dine in the restaurant, and they always offer to help me get this large order to the table, which I decline. The food is always great, the kids are always thrilled, and I honestly couldn't be more satisfied. It's not always easy finding a place where you can bring three children by yourself as a single parent and feel comfortable about the experience, but there's something very welcoming about this Popeye's that makes the whole thing awesome.

Let me say I love fried chicken and Popeyes - this location was the most toxic location experience I’ve ever had at a Popeyes. Walked in to order food on a limited timeframe. Asked the lady manager with long brown hair if she had regular chicken tenders and the new pickle glaze sandwich ready. She replied yes to both. Since she replied yes, I wouldn’t have to wait that long or for the food to be fried. Five minutes go by the cook in the back dropped chicken tenders into the fryer - they weren’t ready. Four orders had been placed and filled before mine. During the next five minutes watched a male employee quit walk out on the job. Following his quitting, watched the female manager get verbally argumentative, piss, and lock the main entrance doors at 8:35pm. They don’t close until 10:00pm. Watched three more people walk in and she asked how they got in - she forgot to lock the back door. 15 minutes had now gone by and my order wasn’t even ready. I requested a refund. Stated I had asked her if both the tenders and pickle glaze sandwich were made - she said yes when in reality they weren’t. She could have stated we have to drop them allowing me the option to leave or order something different. Told her I was sorry she was having a bad day. She replied I had made it worse. This has to be the best fast food breaded chicken sandwich. This review is mainly for a deep fried breaded chicken sandwich on a bun. Lake Zurich Popeye's is a newer location and they really do a good job and it might help that they have a new built clean kitchen to work in. It tastes clean. This used to be Pizza Hut. No other easy to find fast food place has a breaded chicken sandwich as good as LZ Popeye's. Usually the sandwich is a generous size piece to sink your teeth into. It does not seem overpriced to me. It is delicate. If they don't give me lettuce and tomato, I know I can take it home and slice any vegetable I choose for a topping. I usually do not get mayo because I want to taste the chicken sandwich in a pure form. The only other thing I would add is that I do not believe I am supposed to eat deep fried food every day, and so there is no way I believe I should eat this every day. It is a superior sandwich to other places that try to do the same thing. This sandwich is not just a little bit better. It is a whole lot better. I can't make breading like this at home. Spicy pieces of chicken with bone, are also not bad and can be heated and dripped more in my New Wave oven; edible meat can be extracted where coating is too fatty to eat.
