This will be the last time I eat here. After coming here for 15-20 years, they have lost my business. I came in at 2:36, 6 minutes after lunch "stopped" and ordered an appetizer and asked about lunch. I WAS THE ONLY ONE IN THE PLACE! They told me lunch stopped at 2:30, I asked if I could still get lunch. The waitress asked and said yes. By this time another guest had walked in and the waitress asked him if he would like lunch as well, he declined. Then about 2 minutes later I was approached and was told, No, the owner has now said that she will not do lunch for me after saying yes 2 minutes ago when she was asked, and I had to order a combo plate which was the same as lunch but larger, and $2.00 more. I didn't want larger, I had already ordered an appetizer. So I approached the owner, and explained what had happened, and she knows who I am after 15-20 years of coming in there, and she got rude and nasty with me and said she couldn't do lunch because I was 15 minutes late. By his time it was 2:44, and I told her I came in at 2:36. She still said no! I told her if that was her stance after it was offered by the waitress (after asking her), then taken away, that I would eat my appetizer and it surely would be the last time in her restaurant! She didn't seem to care! Goodbye Peking house, 15-20 years of faithful service lost by 6 minutes and very bad and...
Read moreThis is without a doubt the best Chinese restaurant in Lakeland! The food is way beyond amazing for American words! The portion sizes are huge especially at dinner time! The average bear will definitely have plenty of leftovers to enjoy much later! I say much later because you will be left so full you will have to wait quite a while before you are actually hungry enough to eat again. If you are smart and save a little room for dessert you will not regret it not even for a minute. Their sugar covered donuts are hot, fresh and delicious! And they looked so tasty that some ladies at the next table couldn’t help but ask us about them. The plate was overflowing with an abundance of sugary goodness so I offered the ladies a donut. They said ”no” but I could tell they really wanted to scream “heck yes”. So I walked over to their table and offered each one of the four ladies a donut. The smiles on their faces warmed my heart. Next total strangers ate Chinese donuts together and we all enjoyed getting to know each other! I wish I had taken some photos of the awesome food and all of the beautiful ladies that I was blessed to spend time with that evening. Also the waitress was great! As all you hungry bears know that is very important also. See you hungry...
Read moreThis place has been around forever, and the decor proves it. I go there every year or so just to try it again. The fried rice... nothing more than white rice with soy sauce. No bean sprouts, onion, peas or anything. The generals chicken... I asked if it is crunchy they said they could cook it that way. The did! By over cooking it. Then they put the sauce on top. Way too much sauce. Couldn't even taste the chicken. In fact two pieces of chicken turned out to be pork. And I asked for bean sprouts on my fried rice. When served, the rice was plain rice. But the generals chicken had bean spouts in it. All cooked down with the sauce. I had ordered fried wontons and the m3at inside looked like shoe leather and had no taste. I ended up pulling it out and did not eat that part. I've had better food at a buffet. The server was nice but didn't know the difference between plum sauce and hot mustard. Hint! One of them is yellow. Tables are cleaned and 5hey provide sanitizer on each table. When you sit, then don't bring any of the common items out to you. We asked for noodles and instead of a bowl, we were given a small wax bag instead like it was take out.
This will be my...
