TL;DR? If the owners or management see this, please ensure the English(?) waitress with the brown hair and glasses that worked today (04/13) gets the money I have sent. She earned it.
The pricing is genuinely not good. A $1 difference for going from 3 ($15) pancakes to 2 ($14) is just bad. But my waitress does not deserve to be punished for that.
Also, maybe consider giving that cashier some extra attention. Maybe some training. A good sit-down. I never expect/want to be treated like anything special, but if you're going to just be rude to me when I have nothing to do with your attitude, then I'll absolutely throw it right back.
Below is my experience:
I came in today (04/13) for breakfast around 1030am. Waitress was very friendly, and after speaking with her recommended the sweet potato pancakes, which were delicious. I got a short stack of two instead of a full stack of three. All of this was fine. No problem just yet.
What was my first problem was the price. $15 for 3 pancakes is steep, but they were really good. However: $14 for 2 pancakes doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I would have appreciated the waitress letting me know it was only a dollar cheaper for two pancakes. They had a lot of other good looking options for $14 I would have chosen. I wasn't thrilled, and when I went to the cashier, I asked for clarification. Is it really only a dollar less? Why wouldn't the waitress tell me? How does that make sense?
The cashier (Brunette, Caucasian, maybe 5'7"?) was rude from the get-go. I don't know if she was having a bad day, but when I asked about the price, she made it VERY clear she did not want to speak to me. Answers were short. She was extremely condescending. Big sighs. The works. I don't need anyone to sit there and pretend they're super ecstatic to see me. I'm there to eat, pay, and leave. If she were just stoic and answered my questions plainly, fine. I can live with that. But man. Just rude. And I did not take it well.
So, I tipped 10%. This cashier just really made my whole experience unpleasant. She was bad-mouthing me to a co-worker before the door had even shut behind me. That said, it was not my waitress' fault I was dealing with such a sour person. I tipped 10%, but that just isn't right. So, I've posted a letter I sent not an hour after my visit. That is a more appropriate tip for my $20 bill. I hope the waitress gets it, I did not catch her name.
If the owners or management see this, please ensure the shorter English(?) waitress with the brown hair and glasses that worked today (04/13) gets the money I have sent. She earned it. The pricing is genuinely not good. I should have been told the price difference. But she does not deserve to be punished for that. And I strongly suggest speaking to that cashier from today. She definitely seems to need...
Read moreChecked out Blue sky cafe this morning with my daughter for a special breakfast we never get to do, we chose Blue sky because it was a neutral meeting spot, wish we hadn't! Food was completely underwhelming and outrageously overpriced. (Looks like others have had the same experience after reading the real reviews)
I ordered the great American breakfast with biscuits and "sausage" gravy. Came with 2 chalky caned biscuits with a extremely bland white gravy, no seasoning, and no sausage at all in it, tasted like glue. 2 tiny strips of bacon, some overcooked crunchy potatoes and eggs scrambled with no seasoning or cheese, asked for a little sprinkle of cheese on top but was told that was an extra 3$ bucks, i declined. My daughter had the avocado and bacon cheddar omelet...came with hardly any cheese inside, microscopic pieces of bacon, and same overcooked potatoes with 2 tiny english muffins. She ordered a tiny little side of hollandaise sauce that was the size of quarter in a baby ramekin that she said also was terrible...sauce was also $3 extra and broken, (liquid, not thick creamy sauce, that was clearly noticeable and runny) I had a house coffee, she had a specialty coffee the pistachio latte that was $10. Just these few items! Nothing else came with a bill that was $55 dollars without a tip!!! Making this meal with a tip over $65 dollars!! Yikes!!!
Nothing worse than paying hard earned money for overpriced tasteless food and wasting a rare chance to go out to eat with my daughter. One thing I cant stand is when I/we pay good money for a culinary experience and it's a complete flop. I could of just made us a much better meal @ home for a fraction of the cost of this meal. Way overpriced, and completely mediocre if not terrible food. Wont ever be going back and was very disappointed with the entire experience. Save your money or try somewhere else. Blue sky Cafe is a total miss....!!!! Looks like they are paying for reviews on top of everything else, You can tell what reviews are real, all the terrible ones...I would give this place a half star or no stars if it...
Read moreI am so saddened by today’s experience. We’ve been coming to Blue Sky for years, recommending it to anyone who will listen. For my birthday today we came with friends for brunch where one in our party ordered the gf sweet potato pancakes (she’s ordered this easily 20 times in the past, they’re her favorite and always perfect in texture and flavor). Today they were uncharacteristically undercooked and mushy so she sent them back. Her replacement stack didn’t come for over 20 minutes, until all the rest of us were finished with our meals, and were also mushy and dissatisfying. She took a few bites before we sent them back again (she was hungry!) and when the check came we were charged full price. When we asked for them to take them off the bill they only credited half the price. When asked to credit the rest we were informed that it was their policy to only give half - the manager today (Jan 8 at around noon) then went on to say that if we didn’t pay he’d call the police! We were astonished at this attitude and asked for his supervisor. He disappeared for awhile and returned with a fully adjusted bill, informing us that we must understand that the restaurant business is having a hard time right now (it was completely full with several groups waiting) and if we weren’t going to pay our bill we were no longer welcome at Blue Sky! We are appalled at this experience and the way we, as long-time lovers of this wonderful restaurant, we’re treated! We’ve tried to find direct contact info for the owner but have been unsuccessful. Our hope is that the owner will see this review and attempt to contact us so a more realistic and reasonable conversation can be had. I...
