We went to this bar during the Lakewood Wing Crawl organized by Pillars. The service at this bar was an absolute joke. We spent 15 minutes waiting for beers which means we spent money at their establishment. It is not like we were coming in for our 'free wings' then leaving. However, despite the fact we were paying customers we were not a priority to their wait staff in any way what so ever.
After watching several groups of people come and go receiving their drinks and wings while we sat at our table empty handed I approached the server and politely mentioned we had been waiting and some of our group did not have the full day to participate in the wing crawl. She said she did not forget about us and would be right there. The next thing that happened was her taking wings to a group of people that arrived after us which rightfully made every member of our 6 person group upset.
We spoke with the owner when we finally got our wings and he did not care that we had a bad experience at his establishment. He asked us what he wanted us to do fire the girl who was working? It was very unprofessional for the owner of the restaurant to throw his server under the bus. He did not care that we had a bad experience and I will never return. I urge others to not visit this establishment unless the attitude from the top of the ladder improves. Mistakes happen in food service and that is okay. Apologizing and doing what it takes to make a bad experience a good one is what it takes to succeed in customer service.
This was the second consecutive year we had a horrible experience at Merry Arts on the Lakewood wing crawl. Proceed...
Read moreI cannot remember the last time that I’ve had such a thoroughly underwhelming experience: From the poor service to the somehow burned and undercooked fish? Honestly, I would have been ashamed to serve the food. I had to flag down one of three bartenders every time I needed a drink. The typical “push the empty glass to the edge of the bar” trick didn’t work. I asked for a refill on my glass of water, I was brought a half of a glass of water with no new ice. I realize that it’s hard to pull yourself away from talking to the other bartenders to actually pay attention and do your job, but seriously. These women were truly more concerned with looking at themselves in the mirror on the back of the bar than taking care of their customers. The portion size of the fish was small. And like I said, it was both burned and undercooked at the same time. The fries were cold. They really needed to change their fry oil. The entire bar smelled of burned oil. And it was both undercooked and burned. It’s really very easy to make fried fish. They put zero effort into it. When I told the bartender that my food was overcooked? She giggled and said “sorry!” By the end of my time there I had to leave the building just to get away from the smell. You should really only go there if you’re looking to be grossed out, ignored and surrounded by bros that scream instead of...
Read moreIt pains me to leave this one star rating for Merry Arts Pub & Grill because the food was good and the waitress was very nice. The reason for the one star is that we were charge 30% more than menu price for our meal. I wish I had looked closer at the receipt before we paid. We ordered a Birdy Burger and the Sunday Strip Steak special. They were 8.95 and 9.95 respectively. However as you can see from the receipt we were charged 10.95 and 13.95. I am just really dissapointed in the lack of transparent pricing. Now, if you're interested in food from Merry Arts, then I can say that it was delicious. The steak was nicely cooked and not over seasoned. The tater tots were abundant, the side salad (not pictured) was fresh with a variety of veggies, and the coleslaw was a creamy side that made for a nice transition between sides. My wife's Birdy Burger was delightful as well. The egg was perfectly cooked sunny side up so the yolk was nice and runny giving the burger a richer flavor. The side of homemade chops and chip dip were the perfect accompaniment. In fact I wish the chip dip had come with the tots as well but there was enough for us to share between our plates. So again, I loved the food. The waitress was great too. But I just can't get passed the disappointment of being...
