I'll try to be fair here because the ambiance is really a "hole-in-the-wall" with zero decorations. Just simple tables, one TV showing soccer games and that's about it. At least its clean, but don't bring a date there. Its depressing just to stay there for 5 minutes.
As for a "bakery", once again Lancaster do not comprehend the concept of the word. All they had were a few sad looking pastries that I dared not touch.
So since I had an hour to waste I just ordered a coffee which was just a normal typical coffee. I was about to leave a 1 star review.
But since every reviews were raving the pupusas.. I decided to give it a shot. Now to be fair, I'm not a fan of that dish but I can say, for what it is; their $2 revueltas pupusas were excellent (on monday and Wednesday they have them for $1.50).
I ordered two to go for my wife and she is a major pupusas fan so I'll differ to her expertise in the matter, she rated them 5 stars.
Service was excellent, friendly and "homey", so my one hour stay turned out to be nice even in this depressing ambiance.
Final verdict: Go for the pupusas, better yet, order them to go. They are inexpensive, delicious and they make them quick. But forget the "bakery" in the shop's title and don't go there for a restaurant experience. This is really a grab-and-go 5*...
Read moreWe had been looking for a place to grab some real Salvadoran food in the AV area, so we found this restaurant based on recommendations from locals. We were motivated by their rating on Google too! This place is so far the best I've been too not only in the AV area but in the LA area so far, their ingredients are fresh and you could taste EL SALVADOR in every bite. (We had yuca frita/chicharrón,empanadas de leche, pupusas, platanos, horchata) The owners are an amazing couple who couldn't do it any better, the sweetest people with such a kind and humble attitude. I recommend this restaurant without...
Read moreThe google review was not the first thing on my mind, otherwise I would've taken a picture of my pupusas. I bit into one and I scarfed it down while driving. Authentic, delicious, clean, evenly stuffed. Recently moved to the AV and I hadn't been able to find a good salvadorean restaurant...always mediocre ... These exceeded my expectations. Erica was also extremely welcoming and friendly. I'm picky when it comes to my food.... Especially being salvi... Found my new spot 😊 to all the negative reviews, try them again...they're amazing ...oh and they accept...
