I was in line holding my 2-year-old. A lady came from behind me and asked if I knew where the bathroom was. As I was trying to navigate her to where I thought the public restroom was, the employee behind the counter (male, dark hair, very bright clothing, hat) rudely interrupted me and told me to move to the side. Apparently he was trying to help another group of guests that were getting ice cream. The way he approached me was rude, but oh well.

When I got up to the counter, I asked if he had Red Bull spritzers. His response was to shake his head and laugh at me for the question.

Incredibly bizarre response. But looking at other reviews, this doesn’t seem out of character for the staff there. I’ve managed a restaurant since 2019, I can tell a jaded employee when I see one, and unfortunately, that reflects poorly on the whole restaurant.

EDIT for 08/16:

I’m editing this review, which I’ve never done before on Google Reviews, because the owner responded to my review.

I only have about 30 reviews on here over the course of 7 years or so. I only leave reviews if I have exceptionally bad or exceptionally good experiences—like most people, I presume.

If I come across as “harsh,” it is because I manage a restaurant and have been in this industry since I was a teenager. It’s what I’ve dedicated my entire professional life to. I see a troubling trend of poor and negligent customer service coming from eateries, bars, restaurants, cafes, etc—especially from establishments that rely heavily on tourism.

There’s nothing more to share in regards to the experience I had at this establishment. I felt the employee was rude in asking me to move out of the way, and I feel like he was rude for laughing at my request for a Red Bull. That’s it. Don’t laugh at customers and insinuate your establishment is too good to serve Red Bull.

I initially wasn’t going to write the review at all, but I had a hunch this was not the first issue with this employee. I read multiple reviews, not including mine, that mentioned this employee’s rude and unprofessional behavior. Everyone has a bad day, but the owner knows this wasn’t an isolated incident. If you scroll several reviews past mine, she even gives a quick backstory on this employee’s growth and development, which was in response to another negative review about this person.

I don’t want to shame any business, but the trend of bad customer service, mixed with disengaged and pompous FOH staff, needs to change. The owner seems like a caring business owner, I really respect that. It is not her fault that this happened, I just hope she coaches her staff to not do something like this in the future. I changed my review to 4 stars given her...

I tend to focus on coffee stands and cafes only with my reviews and this time we have a chocolate meets coffee cafe.

Coffee: The most real Mocha I have tasted in all of WA. Most stands and cafes use artifical coffee syryp pumps and match it with an espresso or two. That isn't the jam here; either they use really good cacao powder or they use their own chocolate for the Mocha, either way it tastes so authentic. I enjoyed the time our server took to complete the drinks, patience pays off. Grab a Mocha or a latte, I recommend coffee here highly!

Food: chocolate, fudge, cakes and more. You name it, they bake it and it's baked with love. I went ahead and had a cozy winter chocolate tasting with the chocolate squares I bought here; I highly recommend the raspberry flavored choco!! Be warned though, this chocolate can be rich and is best eaten over time.

Vibes: I LOVE the color of this building and I adore the Charlie and the chocolate factory vibe that is the interior. My favorite aspect of entering this store is that all the chocolate goodies are nicely displayed together in sections and it's like im a kid again.

Mona's Chocolate is a game changer for any cafe lover and foodie. With a large selection and style of chocolates to some lovely fudge and chocolate covered grahams, this little shop brings out your inner child through the adventurous exterior, interior and ofcourse --- The Whimsicial Layers of each flavored chocolate.

(Edit: talked to the owner, good customer service, she reminbursed us. My review still stands for flavor profile and in person experience, but I added a star for phone customer service and the time she took out to handle what happened. Thank you.) I used to love this place. But this round, all of the truffles tasted weird. Weird after tastes, textures, and not like the name description. Only one was good, a caramel coffee. My friends didn't like theirs either. We got 12 different kinds and after we drove away realized we were charged for 13. The girl seemed frazzled as she tried to keep track. I'm sure Covid had changed everyone, but I'm pretty disappointed in the changes. Ive been going to sweet Monas for many years, before their move and it's been awhile. I was excited. Used to the cheery welcomes, the excitement to explore tasty treats. No nice welcome, and treats have changed. None of us want to return. We'll find truffles elsewhere. Thanks...

Sweet Mona’s is an adorable coffee and chocolate shop nestled in Langley, and it’s a must-stop if you’re in town. The space is cozy and inviting, with an impressive variety of handcrafted chocolates and creative coffee options. From classic favorites to unique shapes and flavor pairings, there’s truly something for everyone—it was hard to choose just one! I ended up picking the White Elderflower Dark Chocolate Lemon Truffle, and wow—it was absolutely delicious! The flavor combination was elegant and perfectly balanced. I wish I had snapped a photo of the coffee menu because the possibilities for custom chocolate-coffee creations were endless. We stopped in for a quick treat before dinner, so I didn’t indulge too much, but I’m already looking forward to going back and trying more. Whether you’re craving something sweet, a good cup of coffee, or just a cozy place to relax, Lux is a perfect stop.

If you love chocolate, you have to go to Sweet Mona's Chocolates! Once you enter, just take a moment to take in the chocolate aroma: a guilt-free indulgence. I mentioned to the lovely lady behind the counter how I miss hot chocolate in Europe. She recommended the "Truffle" shot. It was exquisite and brought back memories of my life in Europe. After my walk about in Langley, I went back for another shot. Well worth it! They also have cookies, coffee, and gelato!
