Went to this restaurant the other day with my daughter, we were originally waiting for our food from the restaurant a few doors down. I have seen this place a few times being that I’m new to the area so we finally decided to stop in since I was right there just for the hell of it. I ordered the flautas and Eloté cup, when I got the food the presentation was awful, they had a Mexican woman working the counter so assumed it was authentic Mexican food but that wasn’t the case. As a Latina woman I was a little insulted by it but anyways I grabbed the food and they had tortilla chips in the refried beans I’m assuming to eat as a dip? The rice was not cooked well at all very tasteless and just not prepared correctly and the flautas alone hardly had any meat. I took it back to the counter and told them I didn’t want it and the first Caucasian lady was like we thought you weren’t going to like it, and then the other woman I’m assuming was the owner asked what was wrong with it, pretty snotty I might add and I bluntly said it’s nasty. Then she proceeds to say it’s not nasty you just don’t want to pay for it. LOL I clearly already paid for it so that wasn’t the issue. I just responded that I’m a Mexican and that is not Mexican food. Then she says well I been here for thirty years, I didn’t even respond back because at that point I didn’t care what she was saying I just wanted a refund for the flautas. She went into the register to refund me and slammed the money on the counter with an attitude but I didn’t care about that either lol it’s not my fault the food wasn’t up to par and I she wasn’t about to make me feel bad for not wanting to pay for bad food. I came here as a sous chef in East Lansing (current career) and I’m a culinary graduate, and a member the American culinary federation and have state certifications in hospitality management. lol I would say I’m pretty qualified to call out bad food as I see it lol no shade it’s just the truth. Needless to say we will never...
Read moreI ate huevos rancheros with barbacoa for breakfast at Jalapeños Mexican Restaurant, located at 12030 suite 101, Bandera Road, Helotes, Texas, near 1604 intersection, on August 29, 2023. The barbacoa didn't look like it should've, a light brown color. I noticed it was dark brown in color, I thought to myself, "well, maybe it's this color because of how it was cooked", so I went ahead and consumed it. An hour or so, after consuming the breakfast, I felt full, bloated, I burped the food all day long, I couldn't eat the rest of the day because my stomach was bloated. I regreted consuming the food. Later that same evening I began to feel nauseous, needless to say, I became very ill. I vometed all night, I had severe diarrhea for three days, then was sick again, vomiting two days later. While ill, I called the restaurant to inform them about my illness, to warn them about the contaminated food, I spoke to a Mexican woman, she only spoke spanish, I asked her for the manager, he wasn't available she replied, to call again later when he gets to the restaurant she continued. I asked her for the managers name so that I may ask for him directly when I call again, she told me, "I can't give you his name, just ask for the manager when you call back". Then she abruptly hung up the phone. I'm finally feeling better and I'm able to write this review to tell others about what this f'ing restaurant served me. I'll never eat at this damned...
Read moreI am seriously unsure how this guy is in business. this was a second attempt at placing an order. The first try was horrible with mis-wrapped food, long delivery time, mushy food, not taking multiple credit cards, and someone who seemed to care less when the concerns were voiced. Thought another try was warranted. A bunch of us wanted to order and again this place would not take credit cards and basically made the order-making process very dissatisfying. Some still placed an order anyway, and the rest placed an order with the daily bagel some time after. the daily bagel showed up first. i guess all the positive reviews must only be if you go in-house because jalapenos certainly has not impressed this...
