As soon as you walk in, you can sense the welcoming atmosphere and smell the delicious food cooking. There are a variety of seating options, from standard dining tables to more comfortable lounge style seating, and a nice bar area. It really mixes the chill lounge and dining vibes well.

Specials will be listed on a board behind the bar, toward the left if you are facing the bar.

Food was excellent. We had pepper chicken and a whole red snapper. They were both accompanied by generous portions of the signature rice, which we found mild and cooked perfectly. The fish in particular had a delicious, very flavorful sauce that was well received. Should also mention we got to try the fried plantains and the meat pie. Both were outstanding.

The staff were all very friendly, and you are likely to meet the owner. If you're not sure what to order just talk to the folks here and they will help.

Bar is well stocked and they have some impressive house cocktails to try (check the specials board if you're looking for a deal).

Oh my goodness, I ordered the Mama’s Special oxtails and they were absolutely AMAZING!!! They were tender, the broth was delish and spicy just like I like it. I tried the fufu for the first time and dropped it in the broth. So delicious. I also ordered a cocktail that included coconut rum, mango lime and ginger beer (can’t remember the name but our server recommended it) I took a slice of the lemon drop cheesecake back to my hotel which I just finished…so good! My friend ordered the jerk chicken and also stated it was delicious. Another friend who is a vegetarian ordered Jollof rice and plantain and also enjoyed her meal. I happened to be in Okemos and saw the restaurant featured on the local morning news. I had to go when I saw the food, heard the owner speak of how they cook like they would for family and when they showed the women who were cooking I knew for sure the food was going to be good! I live about an hour away in a Detroit suburb but I’ll definitely be back. Not only was everything I ate absolutely delicious but the staff were all so very friendly...

Beautiful art, delicious food, awesome drinks, and, somehow, all the staff are gorgeous too.

I rarely like jerk chicken and only got it so my friend could try it. This kerk chicken was delicious!!! It was moist and tasty while keeping a proper crisp on the outside. Be warned that the peppered chicken is quite spicy, but absolutely delicious if you like spice.

My only complaint is that the music was a bit loud for me. So, if you are easily over stimulated by sound, make sure to wear some kind of ear plugs to dampen the volume. I will say, they may have been willing to turn the volume down if I had asked. Everything else is worth the potential for overstimulation.
