Service was ok and food was a disappointment. This looked like an authentic Cuban restaurant and we were excited to give it a try. To start they bring to the table 5 mini slices of toast. The Cuban restaurant we ate at in Miami served a bread stick basket and I’m sure people would prefer that instead. Both my wife and I got the Cubano sandwich. Her pork in her sandwich was mostly fat and she had to remove it to eat it. I thought the sandwich tasted plain and was very greasy from cooking on a flattop. It didn’t have much flavor so I used the dip sauce they provided to give it some taste. (tastes just like hot sauce and ranch dressing) It seemed that we were ignored as the other 5 tables had Spanish speaking customers and the waitress seemed to want to talk to them verses occasionally checking on us. After we ordered the waitress didn’t come back until she delivered the food. After both our plates were pushed to the edge of the table she eventually came back and gave me the credit card device and left. I used the device, paid and tipped and she never came back because she was involved in a friendly conversation with another table. We decided to leave after waiting for our receipt printout. As I walked by the waitress I raised the credit card device in front of her face then sat it down on the register as we walked out. Very disappointed as I was hoping to find a nice spot downtown with some authentic food. The atmosphere was good and the place seemed clean but need better food and service to become a repeat customer.

šŸ˜‹ šŸ„‘šŸ„—šŸ®ā˜•Absolutely loved their food! I highly recommend the Platanos Fritos (fried bananas) šŸŒ with a side of white rice šŸš! QuĆ© Rico! (So delicious) The churros were šŸ’Æ perfection! šŸ“Located at 123 S Washington Square, this charming Cuban gem offers a flavorful journey through traditional Cuban cuisine. Here's what makes it special: 1. Authentic Flavors: La Cocina Cubana serves up mouthwatering dishes that transport you straight to Havana. From Arroz Con Pollo (Yellow Rice with Chicken) to Ropa Vieja (Old Clothes CongrĆ), every bite bursts with authentic Cuban goodness.ā¤ļøšŸ”„šŸŒ¹šŸ’Æ 2. Top-Notch Service: Guests rave about the quick, friendly service. Even if it's a bit slow (but relaxed), the warm Cuban hospitality more than makes up for it. 3. Reasonable Prices: You'll find the prices reasonable, especially considering the quality of food. It's a great value for your taste buds! I've heard wonderful things about their Cuban sandwiches—a must-try! šŸ˜‹ And if you're curious about other dishes, La Cocina Cubana has an enticing menu waiting for you. So, whether you're a native Texan or a first-time explorer of Latin flavors, this spot promises a delightful culinary adventure. šŸŒ“šŸ½ļø Remember, parking is on the street (watch out for those ticket-happy police!), but the food is worth every step. Enjoy your visit! šŸŽ‰

We were very pleased with our meal + are eager to try more dishes. Traditional Cuban Sandwich was very good, especially paired with a side of Fried Yuca + garlicky Ketchup Mayo dipping sauce, which were my favorites! Churrasco de Pollo, Rice + Beans + Maduros (instead of Tostones that come with the platter). The chicken was tender + flavorful! The maduros were riper + softer than I prefer, but I do love the pairing of sweet plantanos with savory chicken, rice + beans. (FYI: As a foodie of Caribbean descent, I cheered when I plucked a piece of bay leaf from my rice — it's like finding a prize in a cereal box + further proof that this is made-from-scratch the way I cook mine at home!) The fresh Pineapple Juice was delicious + not too sweet. Cafe Con Leche was tasty, but I do like my espresso to be a bit stronger.

⭐ ZERO STARS! I placed an order through DoorDash and received confirmation: ā€œLa Cocina Cubana confirmed your order. We’ll let you know when your Dasher is on the way.ā€

Shortly after, my DoorDasher called me — apparently, the owner of the restaurant contacted DoorDash to cancel my order, saying they didn't want me ordering from their restaurant.

I’ve never ordered from this place before — ever. My order was never officially canceled on DoorDash, so I had to go through customer support just to get a refund.

Absolutely unprofessional and unacceptable. I will never spend a dime here, and I strongly suggest others think twice before doing so.

Edit: Called restaurant to see why my driver was told the order was cancelled, when I got out of work. And the owner stated that she canceled the order because DoorDash took a percentage or something. Was hard to understand clearly with her accent, she kept stating something about me using a credit, not sure what she is talking about as I had no prior credits on my account and only use my dash pass that I pay for. So seems like the business has an issue with DoorDash and shouldn’t be on delivery apps if they don’t want to have a cut taken out.

Edit again based on "owner's" reply: The restaurant DID NOT call me to explain. I HAD TO CALL.

I strongly advise against ordering from this restaurant through delivery apps—especially if you’re using credits, discounts, or have a DashPass subscription. After personally speaking with the owner (who was notably unfriendly over the phone), I’ve made the decision not to support this business any further.

Take this information and do with it...
