I ordered pick up and when I went in, I could see the cooking station from the counter seats. I noticed about a dozen hotdogs closely together cooking on a flat plate; nothing out of the ordinary. Then I watched a cook roll all of them at once with his bare hands, from fingertips to palm to wrist, flipping them. The cooks were grabbing and flipping all of the food with their bare hands then wiping the grease off on their visibly dirty pants, then reaching back in and grabbing and flipping the food again. At the same time they were casually wiping the sweat off of their foreheads with the same bare hands and continuing on. I seen a cook drop a cinnamon shaker in a tub of butter, laugh at the waitress who offered to take it in the back and clean it, then grab a nasty looking towel and wipe it off and put it back into production. They dropped some mayo on the counter and one of the cooks wiped it up with his finger then wiped it off on his pants then turned and flipped some eggs with a spatula and the same hand he used to wipe it up without any cleaning of the hands. They have a pair of tongs used to grab the hot fries out of the frying basket that is stored on the side of the cooking station. It is hung over a piece of metal on the side and the entire area is covered in layers of grease and black slime. The current batch of fries finished cooking and when the cook grabbed the tongs, I could see a line in the grease on the side of the station where the tongs scraped and this slime collected on the utensil. The fries were grabbed out with it and then it was tossed back into the "holster" where it came from adding a new scrap mark. All I did was pick up my food and this was in the span of about 5 minutes. The food was not eaten and we will not be back to this place. I am not trying to stop any of you from going to Sparty's, in fact I want you to go have a look at the cooking station and watch the process for yourself. Make sure you get a seat at the counter so you can...
Read moreWhile visiting family in Lansing, Mi. I insisted on getting my Flint Coney fix and so happened to be at Frandor shopping plaza. I googled Flint Coney and Sparty's Coney Island popped up 1st. I ordered ala carte, 2 loaded Flint style Coney Island and a side order of onion rings! Living in Atlanta, Ga. I crave these unattainable delicacies on a regular. I was not let down and got Exactly what I've missed about mid- Michigan. The most flavorful, generously portioned "Flint style" loaded Coney Island I've ever gobbled up! The Coney sauce was PERFECTION, the dog itself reminded me of Flint's Koegel brand meat products. The bun was soft and fresh adding to the combination of fantastic flavors, while the onion rings were breaded and fried that anyone who like o-rings, will Love them here! Yellow mustard and fresh diced white onions added to the Coney's savory flavor making it one of the best I've ever enjoyed! My family members both enjoyed the incredible Olive burger with o-rings at an additional cost (worth every penny.) The olives were in a mayonnaise based sauce; incredible is the Best way to describe this burger! Lettuce, tomato and onion were the perfect toppings for truly a Great burger! Service was extremely courteous and promptly administered without being obtrusive. We were there at peak lunch hour, it was full of locals many who were sporting MSU or U of M jerseys, 15 minutes later the Food arrived. The practical furniture and simple floor let's you know you're not there for glamorous atmosphere, more like neighborhood cafe/dinner decorum. The Food is why you're there and believe me it will Knock your sox OFF! This place is clean from front door to the restroom, a major plus! Overall I wished that Sparty's were in Atlanta, I'd be there regularly and would recommend this wonderful establishment as a must visit place to...

Update 9 Sept '25 Brandy and Wayne are awesome. Happy employees who quietly sing along with the soft rock playing on the radio is always a good sign 😁. Food was amazing, not many cooks can properly brown hash browns or American fries, but mine were perfect ✅. Had cheese omelette, dry wheat toast w/ Strawberry jam, American fries with a side of their homemade sausage gravy 😋, and hot black tea. The extra creamer cup of hot water is a nice touch, gives you room for a bit of ice and a refill. Well done everyone, I still love this place 💓
Older reviews... Amber and Heather are great, thanks 😊 Crew is friendly, professional, experienced, awesome, well trained, and very fast even when it's at 100% capacity ( which is often) . Food is delicious, very clean place, love the open diner seating and the counter area. Prices normal for good quality food. Owner is nice and seems to works well with the crew. Too bad the hours are limited. May not be easy to find an reliable evening crew in this area , tbh...
Try to keep the counter clean, and check the silverware, my butter knife was not clean.
I did work here years ago when Sparty owned it , I had fun and made a little $. The crew was awesome...
