As a food reviewer, I create videos online and was invited by an employee of Pueblo Viejo to try their food. I don’t usually leave additional written reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience because I grew up in alapeer and know the people to be hard working and most of them, myself included, are limited on time or money for lunch.

I placed an online order about 40 minutes before arriving, yet I still had to wait an extra 10 minutes past the scheduled pickup time, despite the restaurant only having three occupied tables. When I opened my taco container, the food was carelessly thrown together, and the Al Pastor was nothing but fat—no actual protein.

The birria was beef, which should be clearly advertised because traditional birria is not made with beef. The consommé for the birria quesadilla was essentially just oil with no actual broth, making it nearly inedible. While my desserts had good flavor, they were stale, and the meat in my pozole was overly fatty.

Overall, I’d rate Pueblo Viejo around a 3.5 out of 10. If you're looking for truly authentic flavors, I’d recommend saving your money and visiting a restaurant outside of...

1 star is more than generous this was the most unauthentic experience I have ever had let's start with the obviously store bought chips and salsa, the "birria tacos" my son ordered that were literally bland roast beef in a plain flour tortilla, the chicken that was so dry in my tacos I could barely choke it down not to mention un seasoned, the fajita burrito my wife ordered that was clearly bagged frozen vegetables and pre cooked steak bites that was rolled so incorrectly that 3/4 of the burrito she ate was no vegetables and the last was all veggies, the poverty nachos they served my daughter that was literal chips some ground beef that looks like taco bell would have turned down and cheese thrown in a microwave, then the beef quesadilla my youngest daughter had that looked exactly like something from a taco bell rip off for going to taco bell would have been more authentic 10/10 would definitely not recommend unless your into disappointment because that's what you will get im actually sad I drove 30 minutes and wasted the gas for this experience that was not worth the almost 2 hours of my time that I will never get back if you want good food...

I’ve been here multiple times since they originally opened and the staff is always amazing! Our server was so nice and very attentive. We were with our siblings and their daughter plus had our own two children (7yo and 1yo). The high chair they had was top notch and made the biggest difference compared to the normal wooden high chairs that toddlers never stay in. It had its own gray and a place for his cup and it just made it so smooth when feeding. Our daughter and niece started getting bored while waiting for our food as kids do so we asked our waitress if they had any crayons and she brought out two bags with coloring books, pads of paper and other goodies with two BIG boxes of crayons. They were completely occupied the entire time. When it came time to pay before she even handed our bills to us she double checked and realized that something was wrong and went back and fixed it without causing any hassle to us. She was fabulous. The whole experience was so easy and smooth! We love coming here. Plus the food was...

Stopped in here recently, out of town looking for a place to eat and stumbled across Pueblo Viejo. The food here is pretty good, fresh chips and salsa came right out when we were seated. Not very busy, the rice was a bit bland, but not terrible. The atmosphere here is pretty nice, food came out quick. Girlfriend ordered shrimp fajitas and I ordered fried chicken tacos that were on special, the tacos were loaded with chicken, so much chicken that I could barely fold them. I'd definitely come back to this place just to try out some other items, maybe grab a drink. The reason behind the 4 star rating is because the lack of flavor in the rice, my girlfriend didn't really get enough shrimp to fill her 3 fajitas, and it's up there in price compared to some other Mexican restaurants in my hometown.

Probably the best Mexican food in the area. My burrito or fajita or whatever was generously sized but you'll be paying for the generosity. The restaurant was clean and the atmosphere was what I would expect from a Mexican restaurant in michigan. I did spend a ton of time waiting for my bill. I also didn't get a single drink refill. They also forgot my kids meal and they had to go back and reorder it so one of my kids had ti just sit there and wait while the rest of us ate. In the future I'll probably just stick to takeout since the burrito was legit amazing but I also don't want to die of old age waiting for my check.

Pleasantly surprised. I can’t give it 5 stars if compared to my favorite Mexican restaurant. However, I’ve ate here twice. The Honey Chipotle Salad was really good. The dressing tasted fresh and homemade. Mixed really well with the other flavors of the salad. Most recent visit was for taco Tuesday. Got 3 soft shell, chicken tacos (no tomatoes). They were good. I was impressed that the chicken was traditional shredded chicken. The salsa is fresh tasting and almost sweet and onion-y. I thought it was refreshing. Chips are typical. Nothing frilly about the food but solid, satisfying, flavors. Service was great!
