We had Easter brunch at Alibi this morning. Although the place was only about half full, our waitress repeatedly rushed away from us, before we could ask questions, place drink orders, etc. Two of us ordered a savory dish and then explicitly said that we wanted the croissant french toast (served with ice cream) as a second course, after we had had our eggs. The food arrived and we had to ask for and wait for cutlery. Then, the french toast arrived before one of us had even received our eggs. We immediately told the second waitress, who brought us the food and later said she was the manager, that a mistake had been made. We wanted the french toast later and could she please put it somewhere warm. She asked us several times what she should do with it, and we repeatedly said to put it somewhere warm. When we were done with the eggs, the first waitress brought us our french toast… that had been put in the refridgerator. This meant that the food was completely cold. The waitress, of course, disappeared before we could say anything. When she finally returned, we complained about the cold french toast. She said that although she had heard us say something about a second course, she wasn’t really paying attention. And now, could only offer to throw the food away (and of course, keep the dish on the bill). When we asked for a new order of french toast, she said that she could only do that, if she charged us a second time. We said that we did not agree with paying twice for one meal, when she made the mistake. So, she leaves in a huff, taking the plate with her. We assume that we would not get the french toast and wondered what the bill would look like. To our surprise, we got a new order of french toast, but with no comment, no apology. And then to our bigger surprise, we were actually charged twice for that one plate of french toast. And the bill had other surprises. I had ordered some tomato and avocado for my baby and assumed I would have to pay for it. But I did not realize I would be paying $4 for three small slices of tomato and three slices of avocado. To top things off, we – a party of five – were charged 20% gratuity, although there was no note on the menu that parties of five or more would be automatically charged 20% gratuity. I asked to speak to the manager and complained about the double french toast and the gratuity. She said that they “always charge the 20% gratuity when a party takes a whole big top”. Except that the waitress did not mention this at the beginning of the meal and there was no note on the menu. She returned with the bill and said that she was “able to take off the second french toast” – as if she had done us a huge favor. It was an incredibly disappointing experience. The food – once we had it – was excellent, but we will never put up with such piss poor, unapologetic...

This is THE CLOSEST thing to authentic you're gonna get without being in Europe—and that's coming from someone who was raised in Italy and Germany!!! For years I've been craving what I grew up with. Who would have guessed I'd find that in Laramie of all places. I am obsessed!!! You're doing yourself a disservice if you don't stop here to eat! Just be warned... you will become addicted. This place is my favorite part about Laramie. Thank you so much for such amazing products!!!
Don't be deterred if you catch them on an off day, like I initially did. It looks like they have lots of youngins working, and mistakes happen. I've gone there more than I can count at this point, and have yet to have a similar experience.
P.s. the croissants were the best thing I've ever had in my life.
I'm so sad. My pizza was so beyond burnt on the bottom. It was unedible. And that says a lot coming fron someone who eats everything very well done!! I had to peel away the bottom layer and just eat the top part. Wood fired pizza has burnt spots, of course. But this was excessive. The entire bottom.. I wish I would have taken a photo before I gave the inedible pieces to the dogs. ): Bitter beyond belief. Which is so sad because if it wasn't for it being so badly burned, it would have been an amazing pizza. The fact I paid an extra $6 for a tiny bit of salami on the pizza definitely doesn't help the fact that half of it was thrown out. Can't remember the last time I didn't eat the crust to the pizza. The honey bread was also disappointing. It wasn't burnt, but it was so saturated with whatever sauce that was, that I couldn't even pick it up without it falling apart. It was soggy soppy, gross mess. I don't know if it's supposed to be that way or not, but that was a let down. The buratta with the caprese was very good though. Thankfully, none of that bread was burnt. And there was a good amount of balsamic vinegar on it which was nice. I was pretty disappointed that there was only 5 little tomato's cut in half... you'd think for $14 you'd get a little more than that. But that's just me being picky. I will definitely be going back for the caprese buratta...! So good, and you get so much bread with it! Delicious and job well done there. The environment was super cute and clean, and staff were all very polite and professional. I bought two croissants that look amazing. Can't wait to try those in the morning. This place isn't bad, but definitely disappointing considering the star of the show, the pizza,...
Read moreWorst customer service experience I've ever had in Laramie! First visit last night specifically to try the International Flavor Festival Dinner offerings. Person that sat our party mumbled something about only serving lunch menu. Second person we asked about the special menu offerings and whether or not they had all the items that night, said yes. Third person came to take our order and I asked for the Beef Bourguignon only to be told that it wasn't being served. So I ordered a Ruben (or at least that's how they spell it on the menu). Sandwich looked fine when brought to the table. I took a small bite and was shocked at how salty it was, attributed it to the corned beef. Tasted one of the pickle slices which was actually nice and crisp and had great flavor. I took another small small bite and it was like getting a mouthful of plain salt! I tasted some of the "house sauerkraut" (more like rainbow cabbage slaw) that had slipped out of the sandwich and it was extremely salty. Like when you salt your vegetables for pickling but forget to rinse them before putting in the pickling brine; thus is what it tasted like. After finally flagging down a server and telling them about the sandwich being inedible so they offered to make me something else from the menu but there was nothing else that looked appealing so I declined. Was I shocked when the bill came and they had not taken the sandwich off the bill. They had instead applied a 50% employee discount for the sandwich so I was having to pay $7.00 for something I wasn't even able to eat. When I asked the server I was told she had conferred with the Owner and they had come to that resolution after she had tasted the slaw in the kitchen and had agreed it was salty. When I asked how can I be charged for food that I barely touched and was inedible, she replied quite rudely, "that's your opinion", and kept repeating that phrase over and over when I brought up the fact that I took 2 bites from half a sandwich, there was nothing else on the menu that I wanted, etc. Turns out our server was also the manager. Such poor customer service!!! Needless to say as a resident of Laramie and as much as I want to support local businesses, it does not appear they wish to have my repeat business at their establishment. The fries in my Happy Meal from McDonalds that I picked up after leaving this place, had less salt than that horrible Ruben from Alibi. I also wondered if the manager treated me in this fashion because we were the only people of color that was in there at the time. Makes me wonder for sure. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this place unless you want to have to pay for food that doesnt get eaten and you return it to...
