La Creme Roulee — Restaurant in Laurel

So many people gave positive reviews of this place but I didn’t enjoy it here. I went in a couple days ago and ordered a drink, the kid who was making it was doing just fine but the manager (who I found out his name is Tao or Thao) sounded impolite when the person somehow messed up but the drink looked fine. I heard from one of my work colleagues that was there about 3 weeks ago that they use sink water in some of their drinks. When I went in yesterday the manager also explained that there were no substitutions whatsoever. When I ordered- the employee at the register encouraged me to tip only in cash and not on my card because credit card tips are not counted directly towards the employee (it’s split somehow). Not to include that 1 bathroom was out of service. This place (being brand new) surprisingly doesn’t run well. Maybe the owner’s aren’t even from this country or have any restaurant experience. La Crème Roulée is a dessert dream come true! I tried their Banana Cream Pie rolled ice cream taco, and it was pure heaven. The creamy banana-infused ice cream was perfectly balanced—not too sweet, just right. The fresh banana slices, whipped cream, caramel drizzle, and the vibrant blue waffle shell made it as beautiful as it was delicious. You can tell everything is made with care and creativity. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a fun and flavorful dessert experience!

Stopped by on a Friday night and there were only two young staff members working, one was clearly still training. There was just one family ahead of me, but it still took over 20 minutes before they could even start my order.

I got the Coffee & Cream rolled ice cream. It was okay, but the coffee flavor was super light. What really threw me off was that it was served in a small paper hot dog tray, not ideal, especially if you have kids. It felt flimsy and awkward to eat out of.

Even on a slow night, the wait was around 30 minutes, and for $10, it just didn’t feel worth it. Staff was polite, but definitely seemed unprepared. Not somewhere I’d return to...
