I've heard and read this place is the BEST for a burrito and I'm ashamed to say I haven't tried it UNTIL NOW! I roar up in my "beep! Beep! I'm adorable" Chevy sonic and look for a parking spot because I like to order from inside. ALAS! NO ORDERING FROM INSIDE! GAH! I pull up behind a puff daddy truck and realize there's a really long line. Wow! Must be some good stuff! The line moves along and I'm next to a HUGE menu. FOLKS! please visit their website and know what you're ordering-be prepared! I order a bean and cheese burrito and an order of guac/salsa/queso and chips. The ordering speaker definitely reminds me of Charlie Browns teacher-WA WA WA. Good luck understanding. I opt for the hot salsa and hurry home (without too much speeding) to eat! I already know I need dairy to soften the burn so yep! Hello a tall glass of Fairlife! My first bite of the bean and cheese burrito is eye widening. WOW! WHAT?! a super bland burrito can taste this good? The beans are mushy/crunchy and the cheese plays perfectly. The hot salsa? Oh sweet Mother of all salsas, this is tongue burning, fire out of your head and smoke out of your ears- it's exceptional. The guac is definitely handmade and is full of chunks of avocado and onion-no tomato but the cilantro and lime are present. The queso is probably from a frat size can as it's just ok. Nothing spectacular. Again, the shining star is the salsa. It makes everything taste fabulous. No atmosphere to speak of but the food compensates nicely. Be prepared prior to arrival to know what you want. It's quick, inexpensive and tasty! Definitely going back!

I love Mexican food. I’m always looking for a new place to try. I’m in town for a couple of weeks and I’ve been dying to try a out a New Mexican food place. Everyone recommended Burrito King. I pulled up to the drive-thru, but the menu was huge! There was no way I would be able to decide quickly enough, so I pulled over and parked so I could order from the window. After several minutes I ordered the 3 chicken tacos with guacamole and my daughter ordered the shrimp tacos with a chicken quesadilla and a Mexican coke. I got the plate, so it came with refried beans and Mexican rice. I really liked the way the chicken was seasoned. Altogether our bill was $41. I think it’s a really good deal. My meal, 3 chicken tacos, refried beans and rice was only $9.25! The meal was very good. I would have liked it if they had corn tortillas for the tacos. The service was really good! The employees were very friendly and helpful. It looks like kind of a dive, but it’s got really good food. Unfortunately they didn’t give me a fork with which to eat my rice and beans and when I went back to ask for one and some salsa, but they didn’t see me or hear me, so I left. But fortunately I keep my own reusable utensils in my car. Prices are great! Very reasonable. I would definitely go back.

oh, man. I gotta tell you, I think Burrito King is hands-down my favorite Mexican food restaurant in the entirety of KS, honestly. Actually in contention for my favorite restaurant period, but they’ve got some competition in Joe’s KC BBQ in that category. My go-to every time is the “Mexican-Style Soft Tacos, Pastor”. Add HOT Salsas. Usually accompanied by a classic Mexican Coke in the glass bottle, but sometimes you just have to get that Horchata. Horchata is more of a late-night option, though, personally. Regardless, if you’re looking for just about any type of Mexican food, you really can’t go wrong with Burrito King. Locally, Family owned, a huge menu consisting of both authentic Mexican, as well as Tex-Mex options, and lightning quick, no frills service. As someone who developed a serious appreciation for the “taco culture” whilst living in Los Angeles, this place definitely scratches that itch. Can’t say enough good things about this place. I seriously get so happy when eating their food. The best. ❤️

I mean... I'd give this place an above average grade if it were in Topeka but unfortunately for them they are in Lawrence. The location alone automatically demands a higher standard, and they can't meet the grade.

Though I rant and rave to people that this place is some of the best Mexican fast food, that is all it is; it is Mexican fast food. To its credit, it is better and probably better for you than Taco Bell and other competitors. It does not change the fact that the quality overall is near equal and sometimes less than its competitors.

I would jump at a higher rating for this place if not for the shoddy service. Sometimes they are nice, and sometimes they are not, depending solely on who is running the place at the time. Its the youngest of the employees that give this place a worse reputation. Yeah you're attractive, yeah you have a funny tip jar, but no I don't care about any charm you may have when I watch you sit in the kitchen screwing around on your phones while I wait just to get my drink I can see sitting ready.

I think sometimes that I am too critical, but then I take a bite of my burrito and realize that I am near spot on. Not even the inconsistently good hot sauce can save these burritos from the bland hell they are burning in. Get some flavor going! Authentic is only great when it is better than authentically average.

None the less, if you have the munchies or a buzz going this place is decent. They load the burritos full to the brim and the price isn't that...
