This was our first time. They really don't have much on their menu, and they're clearly a copy of Chipotle, although the employee mentioned Subway because they do the same thing as BOTH companies - build your food with what you want.
Aside from burritos (or, if you prefer, you can get everything in a bowl without a flour tortilla), they have a few other things, like quesadillas, but the menu is really about the burritos and bowls.
They have two kinds of chicken, ground beef, pulled pork, bacon, steak, tofu and vegetables. If you love guacamole, you can either pay an exorbitant amount for it (~$2.50), or get their Homewrecker, which includes it for an additional $.80. You choose what you want and you can ask for extra.
There were two employees on the line, one who was clearly new and not very communicative, and the other who did his best to be friendly, helpful and cheerful. When I mentioned Chipotle, he said "We're better!" The place was almost empty when we were there shortly after 2 PM, although customers trickled in one by one to get to-go orders.
My Homewrecker was bursting at the seams due to what (and how much) I asked for. Aside from the fact that the guy on the cold side did a poor job of evenly distributing what I asked for on my burrito (and my kids', too) , it was fine. Perhaps it was because I asked for both kinds of rice (cilantro-lime and spiced), and both kinds of salsa (regular with tomatoes, and the other had corn in it), that it wasn't an amazing taste experience. Or, perhaps, I would've liked it more with meat instead of tofu. I don't know. I might eat it again, although I felt that the price tag seemed high for something I could probably make at home for less than half. It just wasn't impressive enough to make us want to go back, though.
The corn chips they gave each of us were, thankfully, not salted. Sadly, however, although I tried 4 of their 5 sauces, I did not find one that I liked. In fact, the chunky one tasted like it was Pace Picante Sauce, which I dislike. I didn't try any sides and drank only water.
Overall, was it worth it? Well, I spent slightly more than I would at, say, Chick-fil-A for a meal with a sandwich, waffle fries and a drink, and I got more filled up at Moe's so, from that standpoint, yes. But, honestly, I was really hoping for something better. And the salsa...ewww.
I'm sure plenty of people will find it to be an acceptable substitute for Taco Bell...
Read moreMoe’s Lebanon Indiana: Avoid at all costs. Went there for lunch on a Thursday. About 3 people in line. I only 2 employees. Shame on the owner! If you only have 2 employees, close the place or work there yourself!! They were out of beans…any beans, I said I’d wait. They said it would take an hour! That’s one of the major ingredients! Rice and beans! They were also out of onions, and some other things. 4 or 5 empty bins where ingredients were supposed to be but weren’t. If you ordered beef, they gave you a tablespoon of it. That’s probably because they were running out and no one able to cook them. They wouldn’t give you more. My companion asked and one employee lectured the other about portion control! This when they were out of at least 4 items that are standard at every other Moe’s. They can’t give you the advertised product, don’t give you a discount and won’t make up the difference with other products. I feel sorry for the employees. They did what they could without any support from the owner. Customers feel so ripped off they...
Read moreOur second attempt, we finally made it thru the drive-thru in just under 10 minutes. We ordered a Homewrecker Burrito and a Wrong Doug stack. (From our understanding, these items already contain certain ingredients, with a couple of options) We were asked our choice of protein, our choice of rice and our choice of beans. When we got home with our order, we discovered that our items ONLY contained the ingredients we were asked about. If we would have wanted "Build your own" that's the way we would have ordered. On top of that, we asked for chips and salsa, there was no salsa at all. And the person at the window never said two words to us, not our total, not a hello, nothing. I was very excited to have this new option in Lebanon just to be terribly disappointed. (Also my first trip to Moe's in probably a decade.......
