One of the servers, also a comic, Ty nailed both roles. She had us laughing. Food & Service The food was another pleasant surprise—often at lounges or brunch shows you expect good drinks but just “okay” food. Not here. Everything we ordered came out flavorful, well-presented, and cooked to perfection. The kitchen clearly takes pride in what they serve. Pair that with attentive, friendly service across the board, and it made for a stress-free, enjoyable experience. The People What really sets Tarbender’s apart, though, is the people. From the staff to the comics to the owner himself, everyone we encountered was personable and genuinely seemed happy to be there. The owner chatted with us, and made sure we were having a great time—something you don’t see everywhere. That personal touch elevated the whole visit. Something has definitely changed - and not for the better…. I went last night and the speakeasy is no longer a speak easy… I heard someone screaming a song from 1/2 a block away -they thought they could sing Karaoke. But worse yet was the door to the main bar area was propped wide open so there. Is no speak easy - but you could see the occasional passer by holding their ears and/or shaking their head. Matter a fact - five well put together ladies walked in and asked over the100 decibel karaoke if this was the speak easy. Bartender yelled back “yes it is” - the ladies came in looked around for a non eardrum shattering seat… then 30 seconds later yelled out “we are outta here”… after another 90 seconds of my 5 minute stay, I gulped down the rest of my $17 old fashioned and pick stepped outta there to the next bar.

To the owner - you had something special - a unique experience that got you from a bagel shop entrance thru a phone booth to a wonder bar experience.

That experience is dead. Hope you bring it back to life … and then I’ll be back as a regular. Definitely telling my tag along friends. The change is not...

My wife and I don't go out a lot, so when we do we want it to be really memorable. And Tarbender's definitely was.

We went for her birthday and just had a bunch of dishes to share so we could try as much as possible. Our favorite was the Steak and Cheese Eggrolls which were memorable enough that my wife suggested going back for them again the next day.

I love spicy food, and the Knock Twice Wings did not disappoint. Lots of flavor, plenty of heat, not just hot sauce dousing them. The Poke Tacos were excellent as well. Excellent poke tuna, not just good enough for bar food. If you like poke, Tarbender's is a legitimate option.

We aren't big drinkers either, so we ask the bartender to choose something for us to share. I forget the name, but it was a habanero spiced drink served in a mule cup. Lots of good spice, great taste, strong without tasting like alcohol. The drink menu changes regularly, so I'd say go our route and take the recommendation from the bartender.
