It had been several years since we last visited this establishment, and at that time I would have given this place back then a 3.5 star rating. Today was a totally different experience. The restaurant seemed so much cleaner and vibrant this time compared to my last visit. I was quite impressed. My party visited during brunch hours on a Saturday morning, the restaurant's busiest day and we were still able to be seated within 5 minutes because the lady bussing the tables was very efficient and was also very eager to help us get seated. She greeted us with a friendly smile and attitude. You could tell she valued her job and their customers. This is a huge bonus. After choosing which foods we wanted, we called our order into the chef using the table phone and within 15 minutes all of our plated food was ready. Quick, despite every table in the place being full! The food is nothing fancy, but this is not a fancy restaurant. The food is prepared in more of a homestyle cooked method, and everyone in our party (some who eat like birds) finished everything in their plates. The food tasted great. There was no overpowering spices, no overly greasy eggs or bacon, no undercooked anything. It was all perfectly prepared. All of us left the restaurant satisfied and happy with our visit. It was a perfect, casual breakfast experience on a busy Saturday morning. I would definitely go here again.
Tip: This is pretty much a self-serve experience. The only things you don't have to do are cook your food and clean off your table. As such, you will need to seat yourself at an empty table, choose your food, and call in your order from the provided table phone. When your food is ready the chef will buzz your table phone after which you will then need to go up to the counter, pay for your food, and bring your food back to your table. Hint: While waiting for your food to cook, this is a good time to go get your beverages at the self-serve station, along with your straws, utensils, and condiments. Napkins are provided in the napkin holder at each table. Din't forget to leave a decent tip for your busperson and...
Read moreThe owner of this restaurant seems to have a dangerous and callous attitude towards customers health.
The one time I went here we waited 5 minutes, no one came to our table, so we left.
Was considering giving it another chance and saw this response to another review. This is apparently from the owner and let me preface this with the fact I know 3 people that have died from covid, my cousin in his 50s my wife's uncle in his 50s, and a former client in his 70s. Also my cousin in her 30s has been hospitalized and survived but has serious health complications ongoing.
To the owner- I guess it must be nice for you to remain unaffected by the virus and careless. Wish I could say the same.
Here is what the owner said when a reviewer complained that the employees here don't wear masks:
"Thanks for your feedback Tamara, I dunno about putting people in danger. I did take mine off today because a customer couldn’t understand me and I couldn’t understand him and he became rude and irate, I should have put it back on as I could see the fearful expressions of some at seeing an unmasked human and I understand as I was that way for I while. The reason I don’t believe we are putting anyone in danger is1 kitchen fans, there is such a strong updraft that we can smell customers in the dining room, our breath particulate isn’t going anywhere but up, second most of us here have had covid, it didn’t live up to the hype (1 star) my wife who was working today with me is 1 of 5 nurses in her family brought it home from a nursing home she works at. ppp didn’t seem to help slow it down everyone got it there. No hospitalizations no deaths mild all the way around even with the old people. Health professionals are starting to not buy it anymore We will do better with the masks as it does make people feel better"
What a callous and dangerous attitude. As someone who has had multiple loved ones die from this virus I can't stand people like this who can't see the big picture. I will never step foot in...
Read moreA fantastic option when you want that classic 50s diner feel. The ordering process is unique but not too detracting from the overall experience.
POSITIVES: I didn't go in with the highest expectations, but they definitely held their own. I love the decor, filled with shiny 50s car parts, and a colorful jukebox, and cheerful booths. I enjoyed the ordering experience: after you review the menu and decide what you want, 1 person at the table picks up the phone and orders for the group. The kitchen is open where you can see them cook your food (there are even windows at one side of the wall). I loved that you can serve yourself drinks at the fountain and grab condiments and utensils.
NEGATIVES: as others have mentioned, there is a bit of a wait. I appreciate that the food is cooked fresh, though. I anticipated it taking 30 minutes or so for my wife and I, but we had our food at about 17 minutes after ordering, which gave us time to relax and drink soda and talk. One gripe I had was that our order of country fried steak and biscuit with gravy (Hank's Country Breakfast) did not have enough gravy for even one of the items. The biscuit was massive and tasted good, but without enough gravy to cover it and more gravy for the country fried steak, it was dry and disappointing. My wife wasn't too fond of their hash browns, that seemed a little underdone. According to one of my friends who frequents the place, our experience seemed out of the ordinary ("usually the food comes swimming in gravy... Etc"). So I guess it depends on the cook.
PRICE: $10-20 per person.
Overall, the food was decent, the wait was understandably lengthy, the ambiance is fantastic, and the dining/ordering experience is unforgettable. Def worth a shot. I would want to give them another chance when I can spare both the...
