One of the absolute slowest experiences I've ever had at a chain restaurant. I don't normally visit Texas Roadhouse. I was given a gift card so I thought I'd give it a shot. Got on the wait-list online in order to get a better chance at getting a table. Getting a table was the fastest part of the entire experience. Once we got seated it took five minutes or more for anyone to acknowledge it. Took another ten minutes to get someone to come back and take our orders. Then it took an additional fifteen minutes to get food to the table. The rolls were bland. I've had better bread almost everywhere else. People tell me about Roadhouse peanuts but I didn't see a single one, maybe peanuts got cancelled. For a place that does steak supposedly all the time I would have figured they would know how to cook a steak properly. They do not. The part that surprised me was they did offer to correct the problem but it took an additional ten minutes for anyone to come check back after the food arrived at the table. Then it took even more time for them to fix the incorrectly cooked steak. I don't know all about food safety and sanitation but I was surprised they brought me back the same steak I had partially eaten. I thought sanitation guidelines were such that something someone had already eaten off of could not be placed back with food that was to be delivered to other customers. I don't know what happened but all that goes through my mind is cross contamination. I feel bad for whoever got my half eaten steak juices spread onto their previously uncontaminated food. During all this time waiting we ended up paying because it was taking so long. Then at that point after we paid and the steak was returned not a single soul acknowledged us the remainder of the time we were there. Poor service in just about every direction. I expected better from the top restaurant chain in America. I don't know what the hype is about but I don't think I'll go...
Read moreNot sure what has happened to Texas Roadhouse because I had not been since pre-pandemic. Usually we go to Longhorn which is AMAZING--but for some reason we decided on Texas Roadhouse this time. Big Mistake! After this recent experience, I think the Great State of Texas should revoke Texas Roadhouse privilege to fly the Texas flag and carry the name on the restaurant. I requested a steak cooked medium and when I cut into it it was more the fleshy raw/rare. In fact it was clear the grill was not heated properly to temperature because the steak was blackened and well done on the edges but rare in the majority of other areas. I cannot eat raw/rare so asked for the server to cook it a little more. Rather than take my steak to the kitchen, the manager came to the table and proceeded to debate me and try to school me on the doneness of my steak. Hello--I'm from Texas, and even if I weren't I know how I like my steak. After cutting a piece I showed him that I would prefer it be cooked more to medium and I asked him to cook it more, however, my simple request wasn't enough. He would not do so--but instead stood over me at my table and insisted I continue to cut the steak into more and more pieces until it was mutilated all over my plate into 5 sections. Each time I cut, he talked over me and persisted to "school" me on how I was wrong about the doneness. He then took it back to the kitchen---and I knew at this point it would be dry as a bone when he returned with it--and it was! Completely inedible! What a jerk! He completely ruined my dinner and experience. Then to add insult to injury, he brought me a discount coupon for $15 towards my next visit. First of all---there will NOT be a next time! I will gladly proceed to take myself and family to Longhorn where they know not only HOW to cook a great steak but also how to treat...
Read moreI had a decent experience during my most recent visit last week. We did join the waitlist and did have to end up waiting around 20 minutes longer than expected. We were taken back and seated, and our waitress greeted us promptly and asked for our drinks. Those were brought to us about five minutes later as well as the fresh baked rolls.
My husband and I both ordered an 8 ounce sirloin and mashed potatoes as well as house salads. I was really surprised to see that the house salads were a lot smaller than they used to be. It seems like they were trying to present the salad to be bigger but it was lacking a lot of lettuce. I was disappointed! Everyone in our group said the same thing. However, it was fresh and the ranch was tasty.
We were with friends and all noticed that our beverages were empty and our waitress had not offered to refill them or come by to refill them. We ended up having to ask her to refill them a couple of times during our visit.
Our food was brought out probably around 35 minutes after we ordered. My husband and I were disappointed to find that our steaks were not cooked to what we ordered (medium and medium rare). We had to wait a little bit for our waitress to even come back to our table in order to tell her of the mistake. She took them and then they came back out about 10 minutes later and were cooked better.
A little disappointed though that it had to happen in the first place. Both of our mashed potatoes were also cold and not warm at all - definitely seems like they were sitting out for awhile before coming our way. My husband ended up asking for fresh mashed potatoes because he took two bites and couldn't take eating cold food. We were also disappointed to not have any type of manager come over and check on us and ask us about our experience given what had happened.
Not sure I will be back...
