I’ve tried posting this review from my new account for over a month now and it’s still not posting. So I apologize if this is a duplicate review as I’m using an old account now.
My family and I are from the DMV area. We’re snobs for some vindaloo! We’ve tried other places in the area (Bombay, Little India, Karuwaa, India House, etc.) I’m not hating on them. They’re good for other dishes. But their vindaloo is lacking... just seems like a plain spicy sauce (I say sauce because there’s no texture) with red dye to make it look spicier with no depth of flavor at all.
Cafe Namasthe is different! You can actually see the macerated onion and other ingredients in the curry. There’s depth, texture, and flavor! It’s pretty dang near close to the best vindaloo we’ve had!
I’m not a big butter chicken fan, but my 2yo son and my husband both think it’s great!
I do think their garlic naan could have more garlic, and their chicken is good but not quiiiiite as tender as Bombays (I wouldn’t be surprised if they brine their chicken,) but it is in no way bad or overcooked. And the flavor at Cafe Namasthe just nails it for me! Honestly, their flavor beats every other restaurant we have tried thus far.
This place is run by a very kind husband and wife team, Balram and Lavanya. They didn't have vindaloo on their menu when I called to ask. But Balram called me back to assure me he could make it! And Lavanya is always so pleasant to see… such a sweet human being. Both seem very genuine and reserved! There's another gentleman that works there... I unfortunately don't know his name, but as he was handing me my order to go he came around the counter and offered my son a mango lassi! Like what?!! The service here is absolutely phenomenal!
I would hands down recommend this place 10 times over. I see people complaining about their location, but dude… that’s where you find the best and most authentic restaurants! I also believe I’ve since seen a review about the naan being oily? That could be their taste, I just completely disagree. Even after taking my order 25min away to home my naan has never become oily or even soggy. It’s lost some crispness due to traveling that long in tinfoil… but that’s on me and not the restaurant at all.
I'll definitely be a...

Back again! Love……… this place. Wonderful staff, love the menu variety and options, we have literally tried everything, have favorites but change it up because we love eating here, lower cost than the fancy restaurants but great food!❤️
Still a favorite, great flavors, wonderful staff of 3 that work tirelessly to make and serve these amazing dishes- tonight we’re repeating a favorite of lamb Rogan Josh “extra protein “ and Malai Chicken Kebab. Elevated my tastebuds - yummy!
Our weekly visit repeat. We enjoy everything on the menu! We have literally tried it all!
Tonight we had chicken saag and vegetarian fried rice. Their curries are are delicious, Meat is tender and sometimes I get extra protein (more meat) because it’s so good. Parathas are sooo good! My favorites on the menu include: Malai chicken kabob (appetizer), Gobi paratha, Lamb curry, chicken pasanda and many more. Come support this hidden gem!
I Absolutely love this restaurant!!! We come here once a week because the food is soooo good. We meet many people who come here often since we found Cafe Namasthe 10 months ago. If you can plan ahead, call them if you want Biryani. This takes time to make. I also love their kheer (rice pudding) so call the day before if you want that special desert. I love that they have both northern and southern dishes from India. We have tried everything and love it! Take out and dine in. These guys should be packed. The food is very good and you won’t pay the high price like the fancier Indian restaurants. It’s casual open dining, they make their food from scratch and it’s fresh and very good. The staff even let me try a special order. Good value for the food, enjoy each time trying new entrees. If you like vegetarian, they have great options as well.
Thank you! Thank you! For wonderful food.
We are addicted. We had Chicken Pasanda for the 4th time and appetizer Malai Chicken Kabob...
Read moreI don't write many 2-star reviews because I mostly visit great places, guided by the - usually accurate - reviews here on Google Maps. I'm writing this one because the reviews fooled me tonight. I am confused by all the good reviews and high praise I read for Cafe Namaste. They do not match my experience at all.
I love good Indian food, but this was not it. Maybe it was a really bad night, but everything we ordered was off. The Samosas had no flavor and the pudina (mint) chutney was similarly bland with very little flavor and absolutely no spice. We ordered a Chicken Tikka Masala and a Chicken Korma. The Chicken Tikka Masala was among the worst I've had (and I've had hundreds). The color wasn't vibrant and the flavor was all wrong. It seemed like there wasn't any cream at all and maybe the tomatoes were missing? It didn't taste anything like Chicken Tikka Masala to me. The Chicken Korma wasn't quite as bad, but it was far from great. The Butter Naan was similarly off. Did they forget to put in the salt? Even the rice was empty and bland. There was a token pea in the rice here and there, but it was mediocre at best.
I think the staff knew there was something up tonight. Before bringing our dishes out, one of them came by the table and basically told us we should have ordered the Butter Chicken. He then presented us with a sample of it. It was quite good, but looked and tasted a lot more like Chicken Tikka Masala than Chicken Makhani (Butter Chicken).
I may go back sometime to see if it was just a bad night, but when so many things have gone wrong it's usually more than just a one night problem. I had high expectations going in, but even higher frustration as I tossed 90% of our meals in the trash as we left...
