If I could give it a 4.5, I would... I've now tried this place twice, and the first time I went I was told by my friends "it's like Asian Cafe Rio... Everything tastes the same, so it doesn't matter what you order." I'd say this is true... Only to an extent. The first time, I ordered a chicken bowl with rice noodles and green curry. If you're used to Thai's thick, coconut based green curry, you will be disappointed. This is more of a green curry vinaigrette. While it wasn't gross, it wasn't what I had expected, and my husband (whose favorite food is green curry) wouldn't eat it. My next attempt was a steak salad, substituting the dressing for teriyaki sauce. This, to me, was fantastic. It was my "thing" and now I want to eat there every day. The line does work like Cafe Rio... You choose your items in front of the worker, and options include forming your protein, vegetables, and starch into a bowl, a salad, a wrap, a soup, or tacos. If you like veggies, this was great. I loaded up on deliciousness and felt my bowl (and then salad) were well balanced with flavors and textures. If you're like my husband and not into the veggie scene, get double meat cause you will feel like you're not eating anything. The restaurant was clean, the employees were nice. I definitely want to go back, but it did take that second try to find what I liked. Good luck...
Read moreI’m not one to write a bad review but I didn’t have a very good experience at this Zao location in Lehi tonight. I walk in and the girl that comes up to serve me gives me a dirty look and doesn’t say “hi” or “welcome” or “how are you” she is just silent and then I ordered my food and she asked me a few times what rice I wanted after already telling her. She just does not seem happy. Then the guy at the end of the line wasn’t going to put crispy onions on my bowl after I told him I wanted all the toppings. I wish he would’ve just asked if I wanted my food to go or not and he didn’t make any eye contact and I was the one that said “have a great night”. I worked at a different Zao location for a bit and that’s just not how I was trained, we always smiled and welcomed people in and made eye contact and made sure we got their order right. The rice noodles were also crunchy and not soft and the chicken tasted old, definitely not as fresh as I remember their bowls tasting. Hope to see some improvement. It’s just too bad because me and my...
Read moreThey have a sign that says that if you buy a meal you get a kids meal for free on Mondays. We ordered online so it requires a code for doing this deal. We added the code but it would not automatically deduct the 3 kids meals we purchased with 3 other meals for adults. I thought maybe they could refund us for the error at the location but Tony the supervisor stated that they would not refund us for this. Asked that next time to purchase 3 different orders for this code to work online. I thought this was silly and this would be nice to know for families that have more than one child. If you order it at the location it wouldn’t be an issue. So next time just go to the store on Mondays to get this deal. I also feel like other locations might be a better option since I’ve never had issues at the Orem location. Been going here for 3+ years now. The food is good but the supervisor seems to be not much help at this...
