A friend of mine and I were out for the day, and we decided to get some lunch. We decided to go to The West Shore Family Diner in the Leymoyne Plaza. I had the Fried Haddock, French fries, and rice, while my friend had Chipped Beef Gravey that was served over toast with home fries. I would have gotten that as well, but they would not serve it over biscuits, so I went with my fish instead. The diner's water tastes terrible so I had a diet coke while he had a cup of coffee. We both were disappointed with the price of the coffee @ $2.89 and the soda was also high price, especially when the waitress did not return even once to offer either one of us a refill. She did come over once, but that was only about 5 min. after we were served our meal, which was too soon for a refill and not really enough time to really say how our meal was. Thus, there are very generous 4 stars for the waitress. I will say one thing about this diner, if you do have a complaint, DON'T voice it. The owner/manager is quite rude if you say anything. Two of my friends over the years have expressed an issue, one had a hair in her soup and the other found an egg shell in her omlette and he was so ignorant and rude they refuse to ever go back there. I must admit, I like the food, but the two ladies are right in not returning. No one deserves to be treated like that. He basically called them both liars and did it quite loudly.
The diner on the hand has a huge menu, and they serve breakfast all day long. That is a nice point.
I like to go to a regular diner and they are few and far between. I guess that is why I still go there.
Like I said, the food and staff are nice, but he is...
Read moreMy family and I went here for the first time on Saturday 4/27/24. We were seated by our server. Server came over, got out drinks. We waited 20 minutes! Until he came back around to take our order. A table that got sat after us. He got there drinks, food put in before us. We were there for I'd say about 1 hour total. Then we get our food. My husband ordered the biscuits with gravy, potatoes. He got I biscuit that was cut in half. The potatoes were sogy. The bacon was burnt! My kids got pancakes. Pancakes looked like they were old. The outer part was hard. The middle tasted pasty. I ordered the French toast. The bottom was burnt it was black. I could taste whatever they spray the pans with. Least to say it wasn't worth the $45 we paid. When we got home our stomachs were hurting us so bad. I was almost physically sick!!! We decided to go here because. My husband's grandma used to take him there. Needless to say we won't be returning back. Our server it all deserves 0 stars if you ask me. He got us our drinks, food that was it. Didn't ask how the food was or anything. So sad to say we won't be returning customers. The only thing that tasted okay. We're the...
Read moreWhat a pleasant surprise! The food and atmosphere were wonderful.
The staff was warm and friendly, and they were extremely kind and accommodating to our 3yo daughter. They took her order right away while we were still deciding so that she'd get her food as quickly as possibly. They even gave her a bowl of ice cream afterward.
Service was quick, and our waiter was attentive. He did little things, like adding whipped cream and sprinkles to our daughter's ice cream, as well as wrapping plastic wrap around my to go soup to keep the lid from coming off in the bag.
All the food was fantastic - definitely a step or two above the other diners around here. My wife's Greek chicken salad was amazing, with the chicken perfectly marinated and cooked. The beef barley soup I got was so good that I ordered more to go (which I'm eating now even though I just got home and am full). My French dip sandwich came on a crusty roll, and the meat was lean and perfect. The Au jus was flavorful, not bland like it often can be.
The place has an old school feel, with even the order tickets being hand written and punched into a register by hand.
This might be our new favorite...
