I have been coming to this El Rodeo since within a couple of weeks near Day 1 (when it was initially called Mi Mariachi). What has always remained consistent, however, is the superior taste, quality, and value of this restaurant's authentic Mexican fare, which is second to none. Last Wednesday, whilst celebrating the birthday of my cousin/surrogate big sister, we had an excellent dinner at El Rodeo at her wise suggestion. Cuz had chicken fajitas, her fave. đ I ordered and finished nearly all of one of the largest meals of my life [Combo #4 w/cheese enchiladas; shredded chicken and cheese quesadilla (a la carte) with a side cheese tostada; and, more than likely, another item I'm unable to identify at the moment, as I can't put my finger or taste buds on it currently]. I don't regret one morsel of that meal, and I was blessed/graced with the absolute best company, Pam! đ€Łđ„° My only criticism of the Camp Hill/Lemoyne location of El Rodeo is this: the current porrion size of the complimentary appetizer basket of ER's homemade chips and salsa are now borderline insulting. A table gets a basket of chips that is roughly less than half it was barely a year ago, which is super disappointing. They've already taken away the unlimited version of ER's amazing chips and salsa appetizer - which endured for 20+ years - but the general portion sizes have decreased significantly in concert with increased prices. TL/DR: El Rodeo, especially this Camp Hill/Lemoyne location is one of my roughly two favourite local authentic Mexican restaurants. For 17 years, I grew up in Northern California...finding ER has been a godsend since making the jump back to my roots in South Central...
Read moreFor quite possibly the first time in 25-odd years, our service for my cousin's birthday dinner was subpar (being kind), which is absolutely abnormal. Instead of our chips and salsa being delivered to our table immediately, I had to request them - twice. Having regularly patronized El Rodeo Lemoyne since it opened under the name Mi Mariachi, this was a real letdown. In addition, the portion size of the "complimentary" chips and salsa is now far less that half, perhaps 1/3 - that they were not long ago. Our dinners were superb - high quality as always and decent portions, unlike the (homemade/cheap as hell) chips and salsa. We went all out and ordered a lot of food, which we were subsequently given serious shade, which was not cool. This was NOT good-natured teasing, which I would've appreciated and taken in stride. I sincerely hope the lapse in service quality was just that...a lapse. If it happens again, I will speak to management, and I am the furthest thing from a confrontational Karen. I detest (bordering on phobia) conflict of any kind and avoid it all costs. Please do better, ER. You've been my (and my parents' when they were alive) favourite restaurant for...
Read moreThe empty parking lot should of been the first red flag. We walked in and was greeted by a pleasant lady. She takes us towards our seats. I noticed all the tables are cluttered up with junk. The place was seriously a mess. We sit down to find out they don't serve margaritas or any alcohol. This almost made us walk out. We had been shopping all day and wanted something refreshing to numb the pain. Ok so no margaritas. I order a water. It tasted like bleach water. My Daughter's sprite tasted off as well. As we look over the menu we are served with a very small basket of chips and salsa. No free refills folks. The menu prices were higher than other resturants. But we order. Daughter gets enchiladas, husband nachos and tacos and I get the taco trio. I receive my tacos and there is barely any meat. No lettuce, tomatoe, cheese, Pico or guacamole. Just very little meat and onions. The chicken and beef were both crunchy and dry. The rice was good but the beans were so dry they were like eating concrete. The only redeeming quality was our waitress. She was very attentive and friendly. Of course there was only 2 other tables. Definitely...
