My Karen came out

We reserved a table for 8PM through Yelp for my boyfriends birthday and received a text with a confirmation several days prior. Upon arrival at 7:45pm we were not greeted for a long time - no employees in sight - and finally got ahold of an employee who told us “we don’t take reservations- I’m not sure why Yelp did that”. No apology or communication of our next steps.
We did not get seated for another 20 minutes — the employees repeatedly walked past us with no communication of when a table would be ready. We stopped a few - a short blonde and a tall brunette with long hair - who kept saying “yeah 2 minutes”.
We were finally seated at 8:20. We asked for a round of 6 waters when our server came to the table - surprisingly he was the manager, Ryan. We ordered three flights and when he came back for the flight cards with their selections - no water. We asked again - he confirmed. 20 minutes go by. No water. He brings the flights. No waters. We’ve now asked three times.
We ordered our food — came another 20 minutes later. It was cold, dry, and none of the sides we asked for came in. We asked tor them - he confirmed. Did not return for another 10 minutes. Never asked us how our food or drinks were. Never refilled our waters. Whenever he was nearby - he was flirting with girls at the bar. Other that that- nowhere to be found. We had to wave over other waitresses to get us what we needed. We asked tor our check early because we figured it’d be awhile before he’d remember to come back. Yup. Took a while to even get the check and he couldn’t remember anything we got.
My boyfriends birthday was ruined by what was supposed to be an exciting experience at a brewery on his bucket list. Our friends drove an hour to join us, another couple had a babysitter who they now had to pay more than they planned. No one ever apologized - communicated with us after we expressed disappointed - and ultimately it’s embarrassing for their own manager to have treated us like this.
We will never return. Terrible experience.
I should also add that this manager did not make eye contact or acknowledge any of the woman at the table -- only the men. He kept talking over us as if we weren't even there. I guess he only likes...
Read moreIf I could put 0 stars I would. My date and I went since it was relatively close. We should have left from the moment we walked in. Extremely loud for starters with a garage feel without having any sound buffers. The kitchen vents were flowing back into the restuarant/bar. This made for a smokey and greasy atmosphere. Th ou s is never a good sign. There was an entertainer that was very good mostly ignored due to sound levels over all. I felt bad for him. As with any hospitality establishment post Covid, everyone is short on staff. Understanding this we stayed anyway. Ryan our server was awesome, but obviously over taxed with guests. We ordered a flight and Ryan explained as best as he could. It would have been better to have a written card instead of just numbers.. the beer was mediocre at best to downright nasty. All fruity and seemed overly sweet with the fruit. Not something I look for on a regular basis. Flight size was overly large, maybe on purpose so clientele gets wasted so it wont matter so much it tastes nasty. Younger clients may want that or don't know the difference in a good beer. I've been to many countries and had many nasty beer, but this was the worst. On to the food. This was limited to heavy fatty food. They were on Chicago's Best... maybe at one time a long time ago. Should be listed on "Chicago's worst dont go to". I found a very short sighted menu. Basic at best for any starter bar/restaurant that may have a starter chef or someone else calling the shots of a tweener menu. Both of us felt something was off, next day we both fell ill. He called and was next day and was basically brushed off. Brewmaster Andrew gave excuses, owners out , I have no power to do anything. I have someone call you. This of course didn't happen. I drove it back to address situation, was assured someone would address situation and call me.. hmmm let's see THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN. Don't go to this establishment unless you want to spend a few day over a...
Read moreSo. I just came back from a Short Fuse Brewery in Shiller Park where I enjoyed two beers by myself. The beers, except for one were not to my taste but there was live music by a guy named Leo. You could see he was putting his soul into it. After the beers I decided to stick around and making my intention known to the bartenders ahead of time lied down on one of the 5 empty couches by the exit. None of the couches were occupied. I laid down and put my feet up. I was intermittently closing my eyes for a minute in order to soak in the music and the atmosphere, I opened my eyes periodically and looked around at people, including one of the bartenders who approached me. Two bartenders approached me after a few minutes and I was told I couldn't sleep at the place. I argued I wasn't sleeping, just periodically closing my eyes in order to enjoy the music more deeply. I was then told I couldn't put my feet up because it would dirty up the sofas. I lifted up my foot and showed the clean sole of my shoe to the bartender. I offered to take my shoes off if it was a problem but was told I would still be required to sit up. I asked to speak with a manager and a woman approached me. I asked her to sit down next to me but she refused and said she'd rather stand. I started arguing my case and even though there was still a few feet between us she started to move away as if she was afraid. As much as I enjoy being judged based on my appearance (tall confident guy) I don't enjoy someone else's fears and insecurities being projected at me. The beer was either bitter or sour except for a stout with a banana that a very nice bartender recommended. The music was great but the unreasonable demands were unwelcome. I'd rather be spending time somewhere a customer is allowed freedom to feel at home as long as he/she doesn't disturb the public. It wasn't like I came there to sleep on the couch. I came to enjoy some beer and relax on a couch while listening to a...
