The lobby of this hotel is gorgeous, I was greeted with very courteous and professional staff who went above and beyond to make my stay as enjoyable as possible, despite the circumstances. The staff was consistently amazing throughout my stay. Unfortunately, this hotel is just an absolute outdated train wreck. This has absolutely nothing to do with the staff, and they cannot control this stuff. As soon as I got off the elevator, I was immediately hit with a weird musty, smell and carpet that looked like It had passed its prime over a decade ago. There was something that looked like cigarette burns right outside my door so that wasn't pleasant. We open the room and it Is absolutely freezing. The air conditioner is turned down as low as it can go and there weren't any blankets on the bed. Just a flat sheet, something that looks like a sofa throw and then another flat sheet. There is standing water on the bathroom floor and we were missing washcloths and Only had one hand towel, which I used to clean up the giant puddle on the floor. The wallpaper was peeling in the bathroom, And the carpet edging of the room was frayed and looks like it was falling off as well. We quickly learned that there is no exhaust fan in the bathroom, which made for a pretty gross experience saying as I was traveling with my 18-year-old son and we both have stomach issues. That alone is gross, But this caused quite a nightmare when it came time to shower. The curtain that they have in the bathroom Was way too short and didn't cover the whole shower area, resulting in a lot of water, pooling up on the floor. On the second day, I slipped and hurt my ankle, effectively ruining the rest of my trip. I did not mention this to the hotel staff because I had already talked to them about the toilet paper which feels like actual sandpaper, and gave me a rash after the very first day, and I didn't want to come off as some Karen who just wanted to complain about everything. It's not their fault, they don't control the logistics of bathroom ventilation, but it did ruin my trip I wasn't really able to walk anywhere after that. There was also a bunch of rust buildup around the light fixtures in the bathroom because of the lack of ventilation. Honestly, I have stayed in cheap motels that had rooms in far better condition than what i experienced here, in what is supposed to be a higher end hotel. It was incredibly disappointing. I did speak to the front desk about the toilet paper that was really the only thing that they have any control over, and surprised, there was no alternative. So I had to go out to a local drug store and buy some toilet paper to use in the hotel room because, what was in there was so rough that it was making my skin break into a bleeding rash. I'm Actually, downplay that quite significantly. However bad you are imagining it, multiply it by four, at least. Toilet paper was such a shock that I actually took home a few squares to show people because I was in absolute disbelief that such a thing could even exist. Fortunately, the front desk was very kind about it, and they offered me some free breakfast buffet coupons as accommodation. I'm so so glad that they did because it was a delightful experience, however, had it been something I had paid for, I would've been absolutely furious, and they were charging about four times more than they should have. It was definitely equal quality to free continental breakfasts I've had at much much cheaper hotels. Had I paid full price for it, I would've been livid and just walked out. There's so much more that I could write, but I just don't think it would change anything. This is probably going to be the last time that I use a hotel through IHG. I have consistently had far better experiences with lower, more budget friendly options, so next time I think I will just save my money, And go with that option, and you...
Read moreMy irritation with this hotel began before I'd even checked in. I booked this hotel a month in advance, as I was attending a convention at the center across the street. The day of check-in, I was already in town at the convention and I couldn't find the check-in time in any of my emails. No big deal, I figured I'd just call and ask. I call and get rerouted around about 3 different call menus before finally being connected to a person at the reservation desk. I ask what time check-in for the hotel is. The woman asks for my name, my reservation dates, my phone number, all without answering my VERY straightforward question, and saying that she needs all of that info before she can answer. All the while I am actively in the middle of attending a convention and and needed a quick answer to know if I could drop off my bags or if they needed to stay in the car. She spends about 5 minutes plugging all this in and then tells me that she signed me up for rewards without even telling me that was what she was doing. I don't appreciate being used to boost her rewards signup numbers when I had no intention of agreeing to that, I was simply trying to be polite by letting her check that my reservation was all in order. After she told me she'd signed me up for rewards, I told her I hadn't wanted that and really just needed to know the check-in time. Her tone immediately changed and she became short and irritated, and after FINALLY answering me, I hung up. By this point I'd love to find a new hotel, but we're already in the city and there are of course no refunds day of. We check in a few hours later, and the entire lobby REEKED like cigarette smoke and marijuana, which isn't the hotel's fault but it was intensely off putting to someone who has severe allergies to cigarette smoke. We get to our room and it's fine enough to not bother asking for a room change, but has a distinctly musty smell. There was scotch tape stuck to the walls above the window, and the light fixtures in the bathroom clearly had not been dusted in a VERY long time. It was disgusting and definitely did not inspire confidence in the cleanliness of the rest of the room. We left the hotel to go to dinner, came back and the parking lot was being blocked off by one of the hotel shuttle buses. When I went in to ask what we were supposed to do, we were sent around the block to a poorly lit and extremely unsafe feeling parking lot that was not secured or really attached to the hotel at all, which they charged me an absurd $30 a night for and acted like it wasn't a MASSIVE inconvenience to haul what remained of our bags through the entire back of the hotel just to get back to the lobby's elevators. The entire night in the room was miserable and mostly sleepless, between the thermostat resetting itself to a stuffy 75 degrees every couple of hours despite being set at 70 MULTIPLE times, the mini fridge constantly sounding like it was going to explode, the musty smell of the room permeating into the pillows and blankets and making our noses stuff up, and the TV volume going from too quiet to drown out the fridge to absolutely deafening whenever a commercial came on, it was an awful night. My reservation included 2 nights, but after night 1 we decided there was absolutely no point in suffering and that we would brave the 4 hour drive home that night after the convention was over, as awful as that was. We were met with no understanding and no desire to make a miserable stay right. Complete...
Read moreMy worse nightmare has come true….I WAS BITTEN BY BED BUGS at this hotel. I stayed in room 409. I arrived a little after midnight, the room appeared clean but had an old smell mixed with some type of fragrance. I was too tired to complain, I checked out early that morning and by 8pm my forearm started itching. I noticed that I had 2 small red bumps, I just figured that I must have gotten bit by a mosquito. The next morning I notice that I had multiple bumps in an uneven line going down my inner forearm and around to back side of my forearm. That’s when I started inspecting myself and noticed bumps in both of my inner/outer shoulders going down underneath my armpits. I also developed a few bumps on my other forearm as well in the same pattern. I then began to think I was having an allergic reaction to maybe something I ate, drank, or wore. Took some Benadryl for a couple of days, but itchiness got worse and more bumps appeared in other areas. I then let a doctor see the bumps the next day who agreed that the appearance and pattern of the bumps look like beg bug bites. I contacted the hotel to let them know that I was bitten by bed bugs, I was offered a refund and asked why I didn’t I tell them sooner so they could close that room, I had to explain that I didn’t realize what was going on at first. Lacking empathy, the woman quickly changed the subject back to refund, explaining that I would need to contact Expedia since I didn’t book directly with them, I then asked if I could speak to a manager and was told to just send an email with pictures. I sent some photos of my bite marks and asked them to provide me an update with their findings. I was contacted by phone yesterday and told that the report shows that no bed bugs were found. I advised the woman to reach out to other people who have stayed in that room because I for sure was bitten by bed bugs at that hotel. I have never experienced this kind of itchiness in my life. From now on, I will use the iron technique that I saw on Tik Tok to check for bedbugs in the future, this incident has me very afraid to go to any...
