My wife and I were both loudly accosted by a male staff member at this location two separate times in one visit. It was so bad that I had to threaten to call the police.
When this location was first opening, someone was walking around my neighborhood advertising the grand opening. This restaurant is located inside a DORA zone (where it is legal to have open containers of alcohol that were purchased inside the designated area), and I was told that Torchy's would be serving DORA drinks.
My wife and I waited in line. When we got to the cashier, my wife went to grab napkins and sit down. The male staff member then yelled at her that she was not to sit down without food. She had to explain to him that we were already being served.
While this was occurring, I was at the register placing our order. I ordered two alcoholic drinks, and the server informed me that they could only serve one beverage per customer despite the fact that she saw my wife standing beside me moments before. This is a bizarre practice and only resulted in the line being held up, and put us in the position where my wife had to leave our table.
The male employee hovered near our table while we ate. There was an uncomfortable pressure to eat quickly so the table could be free for the next customers. There is absolutely no space or time to relax at this establishment at all.
Feeling this pressure, my wife and I packed up our food and prepared to leave, and the same male staff member approached me aggressively saying that he would not let us leave with my wife's unfinished alcoholic beverage. I informed him that he had no right to keep us there, that the surrounding area is DORA, and that I would call the police if he physically impeded us or otherwise continued to harass us.
To be clear, Ohio Revised Code clearly states that members of the public are EXEMPT from open container citations as long as the alcohol was purchased from a liquor-licensed vendor within the area. Torchy's liquor license is publicly viewable and they firmly fall under the correct categories as defined by the law granting the DORA exemption. Furthermore, their location is clearly within the Liberty Center DORA boundaries. While Liberty Center's website does state that DORA drinks must be within a designated "DORA" brand cup, this is not reflected in the Ohio Revised Code and is therefore not legally binding. Torchy's participation in giving out "DORA" cups is immaterial to the legality of having an open container on the premises of the mall, and they have no right to circumvent customers leaving their location with goods that have been paid for.
To summarize, my wife and I were aggressively accosted twice in the same visit, and were made to feel uncomfortable while we ate. There is a serious lack of understanding around the DORA rules of the area. I had to threaten to call the police on a staff member, which should absolutely never happen...
Read moreWe’ve gotten to-go orders from here in the past and it consistently is terrible. This past order is the worst experience I’ve ever had with to-go orders. I ordered for pick-up at 6:45. I arrived at 6:40 with a line to the door for walk-ins and a few people waiting at the to-go cubby. By 6:55, no to-go orders have been given out. So I get in the walk-in line and wait another 10 minutes - during which time no to-go orders make it out still. When I get to the counter, they run back, bring me my bag, which was missing the salsa, queso and chips. So they take my bag back, where I wait another 5 minutes for those to be added in. They give it back to me saying “we’ve figured it out now!” I get home, open the fajita plate box to find no fajita beef. Just the toppings. That’s $12.50 plate that’s now just a semi-warm set of cheese tacos. Next, I take out the salsas and queso only to find that the order of queso with no guacamole has been replaced with only quacamole. That’s another $8 down the drain since we don’t like guacamole. I decide to contact the restaurant and ask for a refund. Instead, I spend the next 45 minutes waiting for someone to answer. So I’ve hung up and written this review. The food, when correct, is great. But they’ll take your money and not answer you when you want a solution if you make a...
Read moreYou know a taco place kicked butt when you leave with your hands messy, your stomach full, and leftovers from the big portions!
Some people might say that spicy tacos that come spicy are no good because they're too spicy, which is completely valid! However, if you're like me and like some actual spice, you'll be delighted to know that this place brings the heat AND the flavor!
I ordered 2 of the Mr. Orange tacos, a drink, and a guacamole and chip that came out to 25$. If this is not your budget, please take that into consideration! I did think it was worth every penny, though! The guacamole was huge and plentiful, fresh with hints of spice. The tacos were EVERYTHING and I can't recommend the Mr. Orange salmon tacos enough!
Before we left, an employee gave us a free bag of chips for our leftover guacamole, just a really nice gesture that we didn't even ask for!
The homemade punches/lemonades were fruity and refreshing, the place nice and clean with a lively atmosphere! Took a glass of punch home, two bags of chips, and a big serving of leftover guacamole!
It's a shame that I'm not located in the West Chester area and only come here for the occasional appointments, I'd eat at this...
