Terrible service. Undercooked food. Rude Chef. I suggested this restaurant to my family based on the wonderful reviews. We had a 7:15pm reservation on a Friday night. We were on time. We were seated at the worst table in the house next to the restrooms and the lounge. The Lounge, kitchen and restroom traffic was so noisy we couldn’t hear each other talk. We asked to move and were told all the other open tables were reserved. By the end of our experience, only one of the empty tables along the wall next to the patio had been seated. Those people came after us, ate and left before we even got our dinner. After we were seated with menus, we did not get any offer for bread, drinks or acknowledgement until I flagged down a waiter and asked if we could have some water and bread-15 minutes after we were seated. Our waiter finally introduced himself, took our wine and appetizer orders and disappeared for another 35 minutes until the appetizers were served. At that time, we placed our dinner order. An hour later, still no dinner. We sat down at 7:15 and it was now 9:15- we had two 11 year old boys in our party who were hungry and tired. Nothing but bread even for the children. Finally, when we had all had it with the bad service and being ignored, the head of our party asked for the check-we were ready to leave and find food anywhere we could. Instead of coming back with the check, the waiter disappeared and food runners came out with our food. I took a bite of my scallop dinner to find the scallop undercooked. The head of the party seated across from me cut open his veal chop and it was raw!! At that point, we all said we are done! Bring us the check (again). Instead of getting the check, the CHEF came out to our table and confronted the head of our party by saying “Is there a problem here?”. The head of our party started to explain the bad experience it had been so far and the Chef cut him off and tried to start a verbal war with him. It was unbelievably rude and unprofessional. We will not go back. The head of our party was so upset he left the waiter a $ 50 tip to PROVE our complaints were not about money and not wanting to pay for the food. The service, food and staff were just awful to us. I’ve never had a worse experience. We thought we were in for a nice relaxing dinner in a beautiful upscale restaurant. We left hungry, upset and horribly disappointed after 2 hours of wanting to believe the experience would get better. I wish we would never...
Read moreThe service was absolutely fabulous! While the food had some high points, it also had some things we didn't care for personally. The atmosphere was nice, and I liked the live music.
The arancini was more like a fried ball of cheese (Fontina, I believe). There was very little rice and that's not what an arancini should be - it's prepared risotto rolled into a ball, breaded, then fried. A little cheese inside is good, in this case it was all cheese and almost no rice. If they want to serve a fried cheese, fine, serve that (it was good!), but don't fancy it up by adding a whisper of rice around it to call it arancini. The marinara sauce served with the arancini was the highlight of that dish and absolutely perfect - fresh tomato flavor and seasoned very nicely. I would go back for that sauce over just about anything.
The meatball was more like meatloaf and less like a meatball. They are very large, which isn't necessarily bad, but the texture and flavor is just a touch off from what I expect from a meatball. That said it wasn't dense and had a good flavor, just not the flavor I expect from a meatball.
The rigatoni bolognese was a bit spicy for us, though the flavor was excellent. I wouldn't get it again simply because I don't care for spicy. If you like a little spice, this sauce was very flavorful and may be just what you are looking for.
The chocolate cake was a terrible disappointment for me. It was just too dense, crumbly, and a bit dry. The icing was more like a fudgey ganache on the outside and I liked that quite a bit. The cheesecake was better though the crust was very thick - too thick really.
The wedge salad was excellent! The lettuce was crisp. Their house made ranch style dressing was very good. I would absolutely get this salad again. I ate every bite of it and I loved it.
The chicken piccata sauce was very good. The chicken was a little thicker than I prefer, I prefer to make piccata with meat pounded very thin. The artichokes were properly prepared and very tasty in the sauce. The piccata is served with a side of pasta with alfredo sauce. The alfredo was good, but especially when mixed with the piccata sauce - that touch of lemon just made it even better. The alfredo wasn't super thick or heavy either.
The bread they serve is fabulous. Crusty outside while soft and airy inside. They serve it with pesto olive oil. It was good, but if they served that bread with a nice herbed or compound...
Read moreWe held our annual family birthday celebration for my wife and daughter (birthdays are one day apart) at Vittoria's. We had a 6:15 PM reservation. We arrived a little before 6PM. Two of our party arrived closer to 6:10 PM otherwise it appeared that they would have seated us early (which is perfectly understandable). My mom, who is handicapped, stood while we waited. There aren't many places to sit if you are waiting for a table. Just as the remainder of our party arrived, one of the staff brought a chair for mom to sit on. That was a very nice gesture on their part. Our table was in a cozy back corner at the opposite end of the restaurant from the door. It had ample space for the 6 of us and was elegantly set. Our server greeted us a minute or two after we sat down. She gave us extra time to read the drink menu and returned promptly to take our drink order. The drinks arrived quickly and were very good, albeit a bit expensive, but then what restaurant isn't charging double digits for any alcoholic drinks these days. Two of us ordered the Italian Wedding Soup. My mom (who is 100% Italian) didn't care for it. I ate it and deemed it 'fair' as did the other member of our group that ordered it. One of our group ordered a Caesar Salad and thought it was good. Two of us ordered the Shrimp and Scallops Parmesan. The shrimp and scallops were huge and they were fresh. The marinara sauce was ok - a bit tasty but nothing to write home about. One of us had Chicken Piccata and she said that it was very good. One of us ordered the Veal Marsala and did enjoy it although they weren't a fan of the garlic mashed potatoes. Another member of our group ordered the Seafood Vittoria and said that it was excellent. It has sauteed scallops, shrimp, clams, mussels, with mushrooms, garlic, and olive oil. Tossed with fettuccine pasta with Alfredo sauce. We did not order dessert because we had some birthday cake waiting for us at home. The one disappointing item was that I noted that it was a special occasion - a birthday celebration for both my wife and my daughter. The front desk staff acknowledged that they had it noted. However, there wasn't anything done that was "special" like offering a birthday drink, dessert, etc. Overall, Vittoria was a good experience but the food was only slightly above average and they missed the mark with the birthday celebration despite it being noted in the reservation and confirming it...
