Wish I could leave a higher rating, because the food was pretty alright. However, the person who helped me was very rude right off the bat and for no reason. They were out of bread and informed me only after I had paid for a panini. When informed, I was given the option to have it made into a crepe or get a refund, however the tone of voice when offered a refund was very off-putting, as if that option would have upset them even though it was their mistake. Since I didn't have many options as I had to get to work soon, I chose to take the crepe. When my order was ready, the lady asked me if I wanted salsa, to which I responded by asking if I had to pay for it. I feel that this would be a normal question to ask, as it says on their menu board that they charge for it. However, her response was full of attitude. She raised her arms up, rolled her eyes and said "yeah" in an annoyed tone. Wow, I really appreciate the "kindness" that this person offered me after not only not being able to provide the food I paid for, but also having the worst attitude towards me during my whole visit. The other workers seemed nice, it's unfortunate that this person will most likely ruin business for them since it seems they cannot offer a speck of...
Read moreI want to say that this is probably the first time I ever write something like this. Trust me I hate to be this person right now. To begin this place is cozy and I like the vibe this place sets. I like what they have to offer the coffee is what I go for, and it is good. I know this because I go here at least a couple times a week. However, I regret to inform that the staff/service is not good at all. I hate to say this because everyone that works there is great except for one person. If the owner does not know who this person is there might be more problems in the future. Today my order got all mixed up to not go into crazy detail. I ended up paying more than I had to for something that was terrible. I know this happens and it's understandable at times but the overall attitude of the one person working here makes me not even want to come back. I come back for the sole reason that the coffee is delicious, but I will tell you service with a smile and a friendly attitude go a very long way. I find it hard to believe that management wouldn't know who I am...
Read moreBest place for coffee, conversation, and study time in the Haymarket. Forget that other place. The baristas here are knowledgeable, friendly, and the atmosphere is relaxing. You don't feel like you are constantly being sold baubles when you look up, and you are rarely accosted by people at other tables talking too loudly about how Foucault disrupts the Hagelean dialectic. We get it, Alex. You're smart. You know not to capitalize bell hooks' names. You're a gem. Now please talk about it with your companion a little quieter. It's the kind of place where Alex already knows this, or can sense it, and be a good café citizen, talking about his senior thesis at a reasonable volume.
The art on the walls is way better than other places too. I don't mean that the art itelf is better, but that it's displayed in a way that let's you appreciate it if you want, knowing it's probably for sale, but it doesn't seem desperate.
Also, they serve booze and sometimes have live music. What's...
